Hi everyone,

I am debating about adding a 32inch rail to my set when they go on sale next month -- I have a 55 inch and a 75 inch already (with a TS75) and I am thinking about getting the smaller size for cross-cutting solid lumber -- I currently use the 55 and it can be a bit unwieldy at times....so, would you opt for a 32 inch or would the next size up be a better option?  I do not have an MFT/3 and rely on cross-cuts with a speed square or the DeWalt T-Square only.  I am also interested in hearing feedback on Dr. Qwas's new square....and I guess another question is if this would fit a 32 inch rail for shorter cross-cuts....a may eventually break down and get the MFT/3....

Thanks!

Scot, I've got the 32" rail. It's not something I use everyday but it's really nice when I want it. The Qwas squares should be shipping out pretty soon I imagine, so feedback should be coming. I'm pretty sure it will work fine for short cross cuts in solid lumber with the 32" rail.

We are expecting the Qwas Squares to ship any day now.

On the 32" rail, it will leave about 14 inch of cutting length. It's not a lot but if you make  a bunch small cuts it will be handy.  [smile]

Thanks for the feedback....on the Qwas square, are these easily interchangeable between guiderails or is this something recommended to set up on a dedicated rail?  Is it easily calibrated to square?  I seem to recall reading on a previous post that you have to remove some of the rubber on the bottom of the rail.  I am anxiously waiting to hear all about the test runs once they are shipped.

It will be easy to interchange, 2 thumbscrews. Calibration is as simple as a push or a pull, no tools required and aligned as quick as you can tighten the thumbscrews.

Yes, you do need to remove 10-12 inches off of 1 rubber strip. It shouldn't be too big of a deal since this is where the saw resides before starting a cut so it wouldn't normally be holding the work piece here.

I just purchased the 32 inch rail. It's great. I keep it in a festool's rail bag with 2 other 55 inch rail's
