I have an opportunity to buy a 36 mm AS hose from Woodcraft at a 30% discount. Here is my question: what would I gain by using a 36 mm hose as opposed to my 27 mm hose? I have a CT-26, a 300 EQ jigsaw, and a OF 1400 router.

Not at all really. The bigger hose works better on "bigger" tools such as table routers, bigger saws, SCMS etc.  Those that generate swarf in greater quantity or in short but high concentrations.

It's also the sensible choice to combine with a wand & floor tools for worksite cleanup.  Otherwise the tiny hose will be just fine & dandy for general sanding & lightweight sawing & routing duties.

Yes, it’s designed that way intentionally on tools that are heavy dust producers.  The 27mm hose can fit inside the fitting or the 36mm hose fits over the fitting.  So you can still use the hose that came with CT, but you can improve dust collection if you switch to the larger hose.

Will the 36 mm hose fit onto the dust collection hood of my OF 1400 without a reducer?

And the fact that it fits over is one of the things that improves the collection on the OF1400. It removes the "chip trap" at the connection.  Plus more air flow.
