36 mm Hose

That's what I thought.  And thank you for clarifying that for me.  [thumbs up]

Robert,

When I was placing my order I emailed them just to make sure, but the item with no pic, is the old part # that they can't remove from the system. [eek]

So the second link is the correct part!

Now can we talk about your next Vacation. [big grin]  Do you think a Precisio will fit in your Wife's carry-on bag?

[dead horse]

Hi All,

Can anybody please tell me how to join a 36mm hose to a 27mm? I want to use the 36mm plugged into my CT22 and the 27mm plugged into the tool end of the 36mm hose. Is this possible with some adapter? Or do I have to remove the tool end of the 36 and replace with a vacuum end as well as a straight coupling? This is not ideal as I want to keep the tool end on the hose to use with my floor cleaning stuff.

I was given a 36>27 adapter, it's light grey, not anti-static. Sorry, I don't have the part#  The adapter came from my Festool dealer, so I'm almost positive it is a Festool part.

Voila:

Worth it's weight in silver.

I do wish it was about 6" longer.  But that's something you can work out with a dealer.

I use this regularly, to switch between my TS55 and other tools (Domino, jigsaw, etc).  And also with the floor vacuuming attachments.
I don't generally use it for sanding.  I use the 27mm hose, simply because it is lighter weight to move around.  (but it certainly IS usable for sanders).

Samo, when you ordered that adapter, did it cost just as much for shipping?  I was going to order one, but shipping was just as much as the adapter!

Next vacation...  Have to schedule it for a few years from now when there is some more compact-sized NAINA items.  No, she won't go for the Festool goodies in her bags.  She says 'carry it yourself!'    But honey, says I, my bag is already full of green & blue goodies.  [wink]

You can join the two hoses with the Hose Reducer.  The small end fits into the tool-end fitting of your D36 hose, and the large end will accept the vac-end fitting of another hose.  Two issues with this Hose Reducer are 1, it is not made of antistatic material, and 2, the fit between the small end and the D36 tool-end fitting is so tight that it can damage the D36 tool-end fitting.  This Hose Reducer can also be used as a tool-end fitting for the D50 hose.

Wood_Junkie,

My order was large.  I had replacement bags and a couple of dusting brushes, (Better than the ones Festool sells in the cleaning kits) some other small

items and that adaptor.  Anyway, I thought my shipping was a little high but ordered anyway.  They emailed me later with an apology about the webpage

and a  partial refund on the shipping. So I think that they have some issues with the site and I would give them a call or shoot them an email.  By the way,

they have all the good German Vac stuff and in the past Wap and Festo Vacs have looked almost identical.

You probably know all that and sorry for the late reply.

Sam.

For a quick use just put the D36 tool end into the D27 vac end. It is not a tight fit, but when you turn the CT on the suction will keep them together well enough for many uses.

I just ordered the adapter from Industrial Vacuums.  The online system calculated UPS Ground shipping at $16.79.

I emailed them before placing the order and they said sending it US Mail would run around $3.

The manager said to order it online and they would credit my bank card for the difference.

Thanks for finding this!

Joe

Mr. Adams,
Thanks for your email.  Yes, we can send it US Mail for about $3.
Please enter your order and I will adjust the shipping and credit back the difference to your card.

Thanks.

Sincerely,
Reade Bush, North American Sales Manager

What was the part number?

I just got the order confirmation with the adjusted shipping exactly as promised.

Don't you think that the 36mm hose is a bit cumbersome for sanding?

I'm partial to using a 27mm hose or, at least, a whip end.

I received the adapter from Industrial Vacuums and it is exactly the same as the pictures posted earlier in this thread.

The small end fits perfectly over the dust ports on my Domino and Trion.  FWIW it also fits inside the dust port of my TS55.

I have an industrial Shop-vac with a 1.5-inch hose and the rubberized end fits perfectly around the the larger end of the adapter.

This adapter is an inexpensive but effective solution for using my existing vacuum for Festools that don't need variable speed suction.

I also bought an I-Vac switch to control the tool and vacuum together which should come in handy as soon as I get my Kapex.

I'll probably break down and get a CT dust extractor if (or should I say when) I buy a Rotex.

[member=6237]deepcreek[/member]  & [member=1501]Samo[/member] - I just ordered the tool socket connector that you guys referenced in this post.  How has yours worked out?  I didn't want to clutter the board with another post, so I figured I'd reply here.

Hopefully it works as well as it seemed to.  I am in need of connecting the larger 36mm hose down to some of my smaller Festool tools that utilize the smaller dust ports.  Hopefully this will help with the new Rotex I just purchased and my Domino.  I'm grateful you guys found and tested an innovative solution that is easy on wallets.

I had forgotten all about this.  The adapter worked well but it's sitting in a drawer now.  As I recall, the connection was solid and reliable but was a little bulky which made it awkward at times.

I still have the industrial shop vac with a 1-1/2 hose that I use in place of the 36mm size on my Kapex & HL850.  The i-Vac switch worked well for several years of heavy use but then flaked out.  I haven't replaced it yet but plan to buy their pro switch.

A couple of years later, I bought a Fein Turbo II and cut the factory end off the hose and replaced it with a Festool 27mm hose end 487071.  This is a rugged vacuum that I take to jobsites.  I primarily use it for my Domino, TS55 and Festool routers.

My Fein has electronic variable suction control (the newest version does not) so I also used it for my Festool sanders until I bought a CT 36 during last year's 30% reconditioned sale.  The CT36 stays in the shop and is only used for my Festool sanders.  And yes, I bought a Rotex 150 (and several more sanders).
