I was looking to buy a 36mmx3.5m hose over the weekend to connect permanently to my Kapex, I only have one 27mm hose for all my tools.  The local shop had a 36mmx7m antistatic hose in a super beat up box, taped up several times and some of the tape was covering the part number on the outside.  So anyway, I got a DEAL, because they could not find it on their computer.  I got it home and it has a bluetooth thing on the end, I am going to guess it was a return or maybe used as a demo at one point.  The hose looks absolutely never used, brand new though.  Since it had the bluetooth thing on the hose, I did have to buy the CT36 bluetooth plate though, guess I didn't really save money :)

I have purchased the 2 hose ends, my plan was to cut the hose into 2, one short one for the Kapex and the other longer half for tools, I also purchased the 36to27 adapter.  Now I am thinking maybe I should not cut it, it might be nice to have that long a hose sometimes, I know they make a sleeve to connect 2 hoses, that should be as good, right ?.  I guess I am having a hard time cutting that expensive brand new hose.  Would you cut it ?

Many people have cut longer hoses for various reasons.  Sometimes it's nice to have a stubby hose to go to a pre-separator (if it didn't come with it), sometimes because they got an extraordinarily long hose and wanted something more manageable.

It might be worth working with it a few times at length to see how it behaves.  The connectors will get you back into one long length, but as you said it wouldn't be the same; also, it would add a decent amount of price to the whole thing and give you a large joint that can catch on things.

You wanted a hose for your Kapex because you need it. Cut the length you need for your Kapex, and use the rest of the hose for whatever you can use it. No remorse.

It is not often you will need a 7 meter long hose, and if you do, you can connect two shorter hoses. Sometimes I need to work on a ladder with a sander, and I connect a 27 to a 36 hose with duct tape.

I cut a 7m hose in half and use half for the Kapex and the remainder for my Sawstop JSS.

Well, if you have no use for a 7m hose... you will probably not end up gaining if you sell it and buy two others. So might just as well cut it.

I have a 5m hose that does most of what I want. If it was a 7m hose I would cut 1.2m off or whatever works for the Kapex, buy new ends and if needed plug them together. Just make sure to get the updated ends.

Perfect and Thank you.  I was worried about cutting it because of something I may not have thought about, I could see no reason not to, but sometimes I am stupid and not thinking right.  I will cut it when the ends arrive tomorrow.

Is it the ribbed hose or the new style one? Aren't the newer ones tapered? Meaning; does it even fit the new ends if you cut it?

I wouldn’t cut it assuming that was the newer sheathed hose.  A 36mm hose does come in handy with track saws, planers, routers, or general shop clean up with the floor tools.  It flows better for those prolific dust producing tools (especially the ones creating large chips that clog the narrower hose).

For the Kapex, I bought a Bosch 36mm non anti static (I hate that double negative) gray hose for $35 on Amazon, cut to length and put the Festool 36mm end onto the tool end of the hose.  Be mindful to buy the festool connector for the non anti static hose.  The hose end should fit right into your vac no issue.

No, there is nothing stupid about it, it is natural not to want to break something expensive. But sometimes you've got to put practicality over monetary value.

I think there is only one 36mm x 7m hose right now,  D36x7m-AS/CTR - 204926, and it is not tapered.

  204926 is the new style  7m x D36  36mm all the way.  There are D36 in 3.5m, 5m, 7m. There is also a D36 / 32 tapered x 3.5m.

Do you have the part number for the Festool 36mm end?  Thanks

Forget the 27 to 36 adapter. Cut the 36 mm hose, as Alex says, so that you have just enough for the Kapex and then use the rest for your tracksaw, planer or whatever.

It looks like they only sell one 500670.  I would call to verify that it fits the non anti static hose.

I also missed the part where you said you had a 7m long hose.  That changes things in my mind.  Even if you cut it into a 5m and 2m that’s more than enough for each purpose.  7m is a bit of a pain to deal with in most instances.  Sorry about that.

Festool 500670

Dust collector side should be Festool 204920

Those little 27mm inserts for the 36mm end kinda suck as it just makes a big lump of unbendable rubber at the end. I have a 27mm hose I removed the dust collector fitting on and just push it into the 36mm hose when needed. Otherwise I mostly use a sleeved 27mm hose for sanders, small routers, etc.

Festool 500670  and  Festool 202860 is what I purchased to fit my 500685 36mm anti-static hose, can't tell you if the parts fit or not yet.  Have not cut the hose since the ends are not here yet (tracking says tomorrow)

EDIT, one part got here... Festool 202860 is what I ordered, but what was shipped was 204920 I am going to guess 202860 is a old part number at Amazon and they shipped the newer part number, what ever...its a perfect fit on the hose.    So now waiting on 500670 for the other end.

Could you please post a link to the Amazon part, and write from what seller? I couldn't find that part on Amazon and need one or two myself.

Does the 36mm hose end fit into 204920 properly?

You bought the new style hose. I call my 5m hose the Anaconda, as it is always wiggling and slithering around. Works great!

Does it allow the D36 end you currently have to plug into the dust collector end you just purchased? Confirmation would be very much appreciated.

I got curious by your question, I happened to have this end as spare (haven’t exchanged it on the hose) - and it fits over the inner tube. I guess the 27mm end fits on the inside of the inner tube. Therefore I do think that the old 36mm end without these inner recessed tabs also fits the new vac ends.
