36mm hose to small (27mm) dust collector

Can someone tell me what adapters I need to adapt the 36mm hose to the small (27mm) port on the tools themselves?  I know this is simple thing, but I cannot see enough in the photos to know what to order.

    Here you go. This one is a tight fit but is really made to work well with the Festool hose and port.

Contact Bob Marino or Tom at Tool Home I believe they still sells a short 27MM tail to go in the 36mm at one end and over the 27 mm on the tools at the other

Let me ask your opinion here.  I am new to Festool and only have the Domino 700.  I plan on getting a bit more soon, maybe the TS55.

Would you guys upgrade to the 36mm hose or continue to use the 27mm?  I was in the mindset of thinking on getting it set up from the start with the 36mm.

There's more tools that use the 27mm hose than the 36mm. The only tool I use my 36mm hose on is my kapex. The rest are fine on the 27mm that came with my midi

The planers, 1400 and 2200 routers, Kapex all do significantly better with the D36. The TS saws improve a little bit. Sanders are better with the D27. Not really needed for Domino. The D27 hose connects to everything.

I totally concur, Seth!

The OF 1400 and OF 2200 can easily clog a 27mm hose and I've done it. The planers can also.

It's easy to get jaded about how much the CT is picking up until you clog a hose...

The KAPEX really enjoys the improved suction of a 36mm hose also, again, as Seth pointed out.

I don't feel there's a big enough advantage with either the TS 55 or 75 to endure the inconvenience factor of the bigger hose unless it's hanging from a boom arm of some sort.

was just thinking today about a 36mm hose. i was gonna buy the cleaning set with it included at some point.

today i was cutting up mdf skirting boards and the dust off my mitre saw was all over the room. i had it connected with the 27mm hose but it falls out of the addapter. my mitre saw has a 3 point dust extraction

it would be handy to connect it with a 1 meter hose as what you guys do with the kapex. then when ive got enough spare money i can buy my own kapex. however i dont wanna buy a set then cut the hose down so ive got a shorter hose.

so where abouts can i buy a 1 metre length of hose and the addapters to go from ctl midi to a tool

im in the uk btw

I think a few UK dealers can supply 36mm hose by the metre but to be honest you're probably better off just buying the cleaning set that's what I did.

That's old news search back through the forum. I asked festool direct when I got my first midi in 07 about the 500 watt max warning sticker on the 110v midis. I was told to ignore it. I've not had any problems apart from my kapex but that runs fine direct into the tranny. Make sure you have a large transformer too 5 kva is ideal

So you don't run the kapex through your midi, I have a 5kva and have been running my kapex through a ct22 for 6 months but got I new midi for a good price as my ct22 is 14 years old

Yeah I have been running it through the midi ok but if you try to switch it on quickly and do a cut the kapex goes into it slow mode. Running it straight to the tranny cuts out all that extra cable and I'm sure helps.

I had a festool rep out last week and he was saying there are newer light weight 5kva transformers about now but I've not seen one yet. All the 5kva ones I've seen are big beasts with 2 handles

Try it for yourself and see what suits you. Also yeah the 36mm hose goes straight in the midi. Pull out the 27 including the angled bit the the 36 pushes in. It does help a lot with extraction on the kapex

I got my adapter from industrialvacs.com for under $20. I use it all the time with my domino 700 and planed hose. Quite happy with it...

Yeah that's what you do , you just cut the hose in half giving you a 1.75m hose which works fine with the kapex and midi. You can go shorter if you want but I just cut my 3.5m hose in half. The hose end is really simple to remove and refit.
