3M PPS Series 2 - Fuji

Any further information on the 2.0 and Fuji release availability?

By the way the lid and liner kit [member=66744]ddjeske[/member] linked to #26000 is for their 200 micron filters (white). I'll be doing waterborne so I believe I'll need #26301 per https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/1451272O/pps-2-0-spray-cup-system-part-number-reference-guide.pdf

as well as #26003 S2C adapter for the T75G gun and #26124 H/O 28oz cup 2.0.

Anything I'm missing?

Edit: I called Fuji and they won't have the new system to play with until later this year. Then I called 3M and ended up with a very friendly and knowledgeable woman. She said the H/O 2.0 cup is currently available in 6oz and 28oz. She strongly recommended not using the 22oz liners I linked above in the 28oz cup as they may not be properly supported and if you're using a heavier paint for example it could cause the liner to crack. She mentioned they were told there are manufacturing issues on the H/O cups and to expect stock late September but if I can find one there are no known design changes just that 'something' caused a delay in manufacturing. So for me using the T75G:

#26003 S2C adapter
#26325 28oz lids and liners
#26124 28oz H/O cup

Found this thread via the Googles. I think I made the 3M PPS 2.0 non-HO work.

I have the 3M PPS 2.0 in 22oz and a Fuji Q5. I just did a test run with some sheathing tape to cover the side and a piece of a paint mixing cup I cut and bonded to the bottom to cover the hole in the bottom. I then made a hole in the piece I had cut and inserted the pressure tube (with barb/fitting) and closed the gap with putty.

I've only used it with water so far but it seemed like it worked. I'm going to a plastic fabrication shop on the weekend to get cleaner pieces made/attached and hopefully have a tube fitting built into it. Otherwise, I think I could make it work with a ballpoint pen as the fitting.

Got everything in and something ain't right. HO lid doesn't go over the liner lid. I found this out after setting up my spray area in the garage... [unsure]

Maybe this is why there system still isn't available

I'm going to try to paint with this tomorrow morning. Latex paint with my Q5.

Pen cap, sheathing tape, strips of plastic for reinforcement on the side, circle of plastic on top, superglue bottle lid on top, and a pen cap...

I might use the 3D printer or laser cutter in the office to make a better version.

Does anyone happen to know if the 3M PPS Series 2 is going to have a H/O cup that will work with Fuji?  3M lists Series 2 adapters for Fuji guns but I don’t see any H/O cups available.

Thanks
I haven't seen much in the PPS Series 2 but they seem to be coming on line slowly.  About a year ago I purchased a bunch on PPS 1 stuff for my Fuji MM4 with T75G gun.  I had never sprayed paint before and was a little timid about using the PPS for my very first spray job.  I used GF Milk Paint and finished with GF High Performance.  The paint job surprised me how good it turned out.  So I'm getting ready to paint my newly built MFT/Systainer Cart and will use the Series 1 - and shoot Milk Paint again.  I'm really hoping their claims about easier cleanup match my soon to be experience.

I've had some time to play with the 2.0 system. What was confusing me is the lids come with their own retainers that have to be removed when using the H/O cups. Once that's done everything goes together easily and securely.

Having used the Fuji T75G as delivered with the gravity cup and now with the PPS I could never go back. It's so darn convenient. The part #'s I posted above hold true for what's needed to get going with the T75G gun for waterborne finishes that use the 125 micron blue filter.

Inventory should start to show up on more websites since we're into October. I already noticed hvlpsales.com has the kits available for Fuji.

I painted my project with my Fuji MiniMite4 and for the first time, used the PPS (series 1)  I was very pleased with my experience except for the fact that I was using a very small HO Cup with my T75G gun.  It was too small for the job I was doing.  I went thru 4 liners and lids.  I've got a larger HO cup but for some reason did not use it.  I really like the system and yes, cleanup was a lot faster.

I've had the 1.0 system for some time now. I know this is a few months old but what do you mean by going through 4 liners/cups? Maybe I'm frugal (cheap) but when I'm finished with a job I find the liners/cups clean up quite easily.

[member=65062]DynaGlide[/member]  (and others) I'm just looking at the cost to change over from PPS 1.0 to PPS 2.0. I have the Fuji G-XPC gun so I need:

#26110 #S24 gun adapter
#26124 H/O Cup
#26325 125-micron lids/liners/plug/non-press cup (#26024 for 200-micron)

...why does the #26325 lid/liner/plug kit also have a non-pressure cup included? This makes this kit expensive plus I notice you can purchase lids in packs of 25 but liners only come in packs of 100. 100 is way too many for me.

I already have the 1.0 and have spare liners. Can someone confirm it looks like the 28 oz. liners are the same for the 1.0 and 2.0?

Thanks
Mike

I think a call to 3M is in order. You want their automotive applications division and if you get the right person they'll be able to help you out.

Just thought I'd pass along a deal I found while shopping for some more 3M PPS 2.0 supplies. I wanted the smaller H/O cup and liners to complement the large cup which I already have.https://www.nationaltoolwarehouse.com/ has 3M PPS 2.0 parts for way, way cheaper than anywhere else I could find and free shipping if you hit a minimum $49. I've never heard of them but they are on Amazon and have good ratings. I checked out with PayPal just in case.

And in case anyone asks. .

3M 26121 13.5oz H/O Midi Cup
3M 26312 125 micron (Blue for waterborne finishes) lids/liners/plugs pack

This is for my Fuji MM5 T75G gun. I posted the proper adapter and pn's for the large kit in a previous post in this thread.

I hope this helps,
Matt

Great find - saves me $100 if I get large pressurized cup and cup set for my Fuji. But unfortunately the adapter for my GXPC gun is currently OOS and they don't know when they will get more. I have the series 1.0 but only have a handful of cups left so may pull the trigger on this.

Mike

cheers! just had a buddy in the US order me the s2c adaptor and a midi cup, hopefully it all comes through....seems we can get lids and liners in the UK but not the adaptors and h/o cups :/

Can we no longer get the series 1.0 cups? I still have that version too.

Don't know - didn't look - didn't mean to imply 1.0 is unavailable. All the issues I have had with the 1.0 seem to be addressed with the 2.0 so have decided to upgrade at this price point since I'm running low on disposables.

Nice! Just bought the 2.0 125 micron Mini Kit for $59 after tax! Boy that saved me a lot of money upgrading! Even found the adapter for my gun for $36 shipped on eBay! Not too bad!

Amazon still has the 1.0 cups at a competitive price with free shipping for prime.

Great deal.  I have the same gun, and now have the pps gear on it's way to me. :-)

Just a heads up (currently trying to work this out) - I ordered the cup kit and high pressure cup. My delivery came yesterday and was missing the HP cup so I called and they said must be shipper fault. Someone else was to call me. No callback yet but I noticed I just received a refund for the HP cup - WHAT! I also notice they have jacked up the prices on these items now too.

Mike

UPDATE - got hold of them by phone and they do seem to be out of the HP cups so they gave me a refund. I need to call back, but, they say they will honor the price originally paid.
