£50 Voucher against an extractor - UK

I got the voucher through the post today but I'm not really sure which one would suit me best.

Currently just have the plungesaw but also have several other tools from other manufacturers (router, chopsaw, Jigsaw and whatever).

So far the worst think I regularly cut is MDF and that plungesaw doesn't half chuck some dust out when I cut the 25mm stuff and more sites are demanding extraction nowadays. Plus those pod filter dust mask things are ON in winter but during summer I'm less impressed by them.

They are all the same, only the capacity varies. I currently have a midi and have no issues with mdf dust.
I'm considering the ct26 as i would then have access to the boom arm.  [big grin]

Today the post brought me a £50 voucher for use against a Festool extractor (except the CT-SYS), which is valid until the end of August.

As I already have a CT26 (which I love) I won't be buying another.

I would go for the new CTM 26ac, as it's now available in 110v, that would cover you for site work, over the past 12-18 months most sites I've worked on have demanded at least an M class extractor when working with ply and met

is there really that much difference between the machines to make the ctm extractors worth the extra compared to the ctl? arent they not the same machines with a different filter? what is it like? the most expensive filter in the world or something? £200 odd more expensive  [eek] ac extractors even more. id have thought ctm slightly more expensive and then with auto clean a considerable extra expense rather than the other way around.

As far as I know, the only difference between L and M class extractors ( festool anyway), is that M class extractors have a warning system built in that warns you about low air flow/lack of suction, I went from a midi to a bosch GAS35 M, because I needed an M class extractors for site work( I'd have rather stayed with festool), it states in UK HSE literature, that at least an M class extractors must be used on site to comply with the regs.
At the end of the day if your working on a site that doesn't follow the rules, it doesn't matter what you use, I work a lot for the NHS, no extractor, no work, simple as

Ahh, good call. Thanks for the info.

It would be except unless others know better?  I can only find the boom arm in 240v flavour, no 110v option?  [sad] Which is of no use to me on site.

I've been told from the person who supplied mine, that at some Festool get-together he was told that there is no difference whatsoever in the m class filters, motors or housings other than the "beep" that lets you know there's some sort of blockage.

It would appear that it's another case of the Euro health and safety idiots ticking imaginary boxes for their overpaid subscribers to make everyone feel as though they care.

His opinion (my supplier) was that as more places demand this "m class" standard, the cheaper it will become as the "L class" will be pointless in having if you are professional.

So I bought the ctl 26 from him and decided to pocket the difference... Well actually I didn't pocket anything...I thought "oo, that means I can afford to get the ts55 after all"!
