8mm Domino Tenons

Simple answer: so it won't matter should you forget to change the depth setting when working with the connectors.

In case your short term memory works or you don't use the connectors (or both): the 40mm will work fine too.

Here in germany the 8x40/130 and 8x36/130 are the same list price of 14,90€ (+VAT).

I will add that I've found that for my most used Domino size (14mm for me as it happens to be), it's less expensive to buy the long 750mm stock and cut them to length. I don't throw out the shorter scraps from that as they are often usable for things like alignment purposes where the length of the tenon isn't material. You may want to check your cost for the longer "cut your own length" Domino stock vs the pre-cut versions and see if there's any material benefit to you, too.

[member=66562]Jim_in_PA[/member], I have thought about the cut-to-length stock for the 8mm and 10mm tenons.  Although I would probably wait until I have an actual need before buying either of these (cost and storage).  Whereas the 8x36, 8x40, or 8x50 would be a smaller quantity to have around for the random projects that come up.

I agree with your thoughts, Russ. General stock is great to have in assortment but when you find what you use the most of...go for the longer pieces for economy.

When I bought my 500, I bought the assortment.  When i bought the 700, I decided to buy the long lengths and cut them as needed, Japanese pull saws make this a snap.

Or use a bandsaw if a lot of them are to be cut.

Beech is economical, so one can also mill a lot of dominoes (a few hundreds or more) using a table saw and router set-up.

No, for when tou attach something to a center 18mm panel from both sides. The machine doesn't go deeper than 28, leaving the 40mm Domino sticking out 12mm while you need it at 9 or less to fit into half the width of the center panel.

That's what Sedge shows too, if Instagram doesn't block me out..

I did not know that these even existed, as I primarily use 6 x 40. I too bought the assortment set and just replace them as I use them up, except for the 6 x 40. I get those in the big box of 1140 pieces.
The ones I use the least are the tiny 4mm ones, but they are extremely handy on those rare occasions.
