8x4 sheet cutlist software

The Navisaw app is by Template by Numbers.  I think that is the software that I was given a test code to do a review.  I have sent them an email regarding the use of serial numbers.  If that is a way to offer a special price for a limited time, then make up a number similar to yours and try it.  I sincerely doubt that the software maker could be tapped in the Festool databases in order to make sure that the serial number was correct.

I personally would not give out that information.  But that is just me.

Well to be fair what can they actually do with a serial number and postcode and date and dealer? Cus thats all they are asking for.

I just made it up and it has activated.

Okay played with it for a bit!

umm one thing Im hating about it already!

Every time you you start the app up the first four lines are filled in already with set sizes and you have to DELETE them all every time to enter your own sizes!

I tried to just remove all the sizes and then ''SAVE'' but it wont let me do that!  So kinda annoying!

I have received an email from the developer of the software.  It does explain everything.  I have asked for permission to print the relevant parts of the email here.  It was indeed the software that I was offered to review earlier.

Cannot find them through iTunes, but their web site was easy to find.  The offer was through Sept 30, so, once again, a day late and a dollar short.

Here is the content of an email I received from the developer of the Navisaw software.  It is printed here with the permission of the developer.  Some non-pertinent parts (minor) have been omitted:

"Hi Peter,

I've just read the thread on FOG.

The NaviSaw promotion was done in association with Festool UK.

Purchasers of a TS55 during June-September 2011 could download NaviSaw from the App Store (UK only) and then enter their serial number, dealer, date of purchase to activate the application. This information was recorded to ensure only qualifying purchasers could activate the app.
The promotion was backed up with Festool advertising in UK magazines.

The timing of the thread FOG is truly ironic since the promotion just ended on 30 September and if NaviSaw hasn't disappeared from the UK App Store yet it will do so shortly.

NaviSaw is the app name chosen by Festool UK. It is a rebadged version of AmbiSaw with a couple of tweaks. AmbiSaw is available on the App Store worldwide for $19.99. The latest version 3.1 we think is very strong and includes features like generating a PDF document of the cutting plan.

Best Regards
Andrew"

To Andrew:  Thank you for the clarification and monitoring your website's email on a Sunday.  I look forward to seeing the evolution of this app and feedback from the members here.

just got it and tried  [sad] promotion is now closed buy ambisaw

Yeah I have been told by the Navi/Ambisaw developer that you can still download the app but the activation has now been closed.

Sorry dude!

Just been playing around with the App more!

The fact it tells you in order what to cut first cross cut or rip cut is handy!   You can adjust the setting to allow for Kerf.

I got a job coming up where I gotta do a cutting list and ill use it see how it works for me and report back!

do you think its worth paying the £14 for the ambisaw version? ideally an iphone app would be more usefull than computer based software

I thought it was £11.99

ummm hard to tell at the moment but its a very handy app!

As it lays out your cuts for you automatically BUT if you want to do it your self thats easy enough as it lets you drag each piece individually and if you double tap it rotates the piece so if you have a veneered board and want to rotate it so the grain goes the right way you can turn it to do so and still try and get as much out of each sheet possible.

You can set if your using a Raw saw, Beam Saw, Panel saw to cut the sheets up BUT  [embarassed] im not figured out what difference it makes

ummm  dont know really what to show you on the video so just went through the features quickly!

hope it helps to see how it works!
