This is a really niece tool.

You must be talking about my niece - she used to work construction with her dad. :)

Seriously, what are the specifics of nice?

  :o

It just feels solid.  Well balanced, and the motor purrs.

Just got my tracking number from tool nut.

I was starting to get worried as I already sold my ETS 125 on ebay before the shortage came out. I had to sand everything with the RO125 for the past couple weeks which I do not like nearly as much.

Glad I made the cut!

OK, quit rubbing it in [wink]

Got a no-update-on-ETA update email from ToolNut about an hour ago.

As a data point, I ordered mine within minutes of receiving the email on 10/4 from ToolNut (a $99 sander from Festool? it was a no-brainer). The sander arrived this morning here in central Mass., so they are being delivered.

still waiting.... [sad]

Just give it some time...Festool has acknowledged that they will honor the pre-orders, you just have to be patient.

I stopped in my local Festool Dealer today to pick up saw blades for my multipurpose tool.  The sales person knows me and asked if I knew about the the special deal for the $99.00 dollar sander as he had one left because the guy who ordered it turned it down.  I now have the sander. WhooHoo! I got one.
Today was my day.
I also picked up the hand sander that has the dust collection.  Used it on door edges.
Works great

Just going to have to wait for the sanders that were ordered to arrive.............................

Until then these topics, for the most part, will be  .................  [dead horse]

Festool could create some goodwill in this situation by immediately providing the $50 voucher to all their backordered customers.  I can wait for the sander until 2017 but was really looking forward to HK 55 under the christmas tree ( or sooner if early November ship date had been met) and the $50 voucher was enough to rationalize the purchase of another track saw [smile]

As I was typing this Toolnut sent me a email that if we purchase a tool now,  Festool will rebate $50 towards the tool purchase when the sander is received,  but the eta is now March.

[member=55105]Mike Upstate[/member], you don't need the voucher or the sander in your hand to use the voucher. You can purchase any Festool power tool now and when you receive your sander, redeem the voucher.  So, there's no reason not to go ahead and snag a new tool and start using it.

The voucher cannot be redeemed without having the serial number from the sander, which is why the vouchers are not being sent in advance. It would not help doing that.

For our customers, we are in the process of sending emails with estimated ship dates for your backordered PRO 5 sander. These estimates are based on predictions by Festool on when we will receive additional inventory shipments. The good news is that everyone who ordered will get their sander and $50 voucher. The not-so-good news is that you'll have to wait a bit unfortunately.

To be clear and Shane can correct me if I am wrong. We can buy a sander today and use the Voucher next October, Nov Dec, until 12/31/2017.

It's not money off ahead of time or at the time of purchase, there is zero reason to wait to buy that new Festool. Where I come from this is called a rebate. And it will take 3-5 weeks or whatever to get the rebate.

The voucher states it can not be used on previous purchases, but becasue of  the way this works it really means it cant be used on purchases made before  Nov 1st, 2016.

And if someone tries to sell you the voucher code for 10.00 you will need the serial from the tool as well or you are out of luck.

[member=3373]Dovetail65[/member], yes, that is all correct.

Also, I've seen people posting photos of their sander AND voucher online. I wouldn't do that. Someone could use your serial number and voucher number...  [doh]

Thanks Shane,  you can see that I amended my post after reading the email update.  In general terms of posts, I never list my tools or details of my shop on public forums as a precaution [big grin].

Shane,
I'm not sure how many folks it effects but I am having a problem with Tool Nut having my PayPal payment for another 3-5 months before they ship. Again, I know it is out of TN control but this is a significant delay from what was promised and because I paid with PP I was charged a month ago when I placed the order.

I still want the sander but I'm curious what the possibility would be for a refund of the PP payment and reissuing a payment when these are actually going to ship? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Hello,

New to posting but have been coming to the FOG for a little while to look at tool reviews and info. I received an email update from the Tool Nut concerning the shipment of my PRO 5 sander that I ordered the day it was released. Tool Nut estimates that the sander will ship on or around February 7, 2017. Not happy about this, but suppose there is no choice but to wait unless you want to spend double on one listed on eBay that may not even come with everything in the deal.

I think this promotion was very poorly handled!! It does not make me feel like I am dealing with a company with integrity.

I agree that it is not the end of the world if we don't get a sander that we ordered when it was promised but this just reflects badly on the company, as does the way the Kapex issue has been handled. It takes years to build a brand name that people respect and this sort of thing can change peoples perception of the brand. This is the sort of thing you expect from a fly by night operation!
