TylerC, can you please point me to details on the voucher. I would like to apply it to the purchase of a TS55 REQ and extractor, but have been told there is no ETA on my PRO5.

[member=62547]meeker[/member], you can claim your rebate using this website:
http://www.festoolpro5.com

Here's what the voucher looks like.

FestoolPro5.com has a form that walks you through it.

You'll need to submit the following info:
- PRO 5 LTD voucher code
- PRO 5 LTD T-Nr and S-Nr

- T-Nr and S-Nr of your second tool
- Purchase date of your second tool

- Personal info (name, address, email) so that we can get you the check

Tyler - I'm hoping the takeaway isn't to ban cut rate pricing introductions altogether.    [sad]

The Pro5 deal is basically the same idea as a Groupon deal, which while great for existing customers does very little towards bringing in new customers who are willing to pay full fare for anything. Given the limited distribution of Festool it seems unlikely they will see hoards of new customers, so consider this a handout to existing ones probably not to be seen again for a very long time.

[member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] & [member=57769]TylerC[/member],

Thanks for the info and quick responses. So the 'may not be applied to previous purchases' won't take effect if I buy the saw/extractor before I am billed/receive the Pro5? No issues with stacking this with saving 10% on the extractor when purchased with the saw?

[member=62547]meeker[/member], [member=57769]TylerC[/member] had previously stated that due to the circumstances that you can place your order now to take advantage of the $50 voucher. You'll just have to wait until you get your sander to claim the rebate since you'll need the serial number from it.

Here is the ad from Fine Woodworking Tools&Shops 2017.
It clearly states limited quantity. Magazine ads are planned months in advance. Festool covered themselves as I see it.
...

Not to put too fine a point on it, but...

The ad seems to add insult to injury.  First you sell out the big promotion in October before many people (me, for instance) even know it's happening, then you publish the ad after shutting it down saying that it is available Nov. 2016.

I'm hoping that the ad is saying that the sander will be available for some undetermined longer period at the $99 price point without the voucher.  The ad doesn't promise the voucher, but I think the PRO 5 is a great deal at $99 without the voucher.  (At this point, I don't know what I would spend it on.)

So Festool, whenever the PRO 5 is available for $99 in Nov 2016, put my name on the list.  If you refer me to a dealer, that's fine as long as the tool is actually available through the dealer in November or thereabouts for $99.  You know how to contact me.

The ad was purchased, designed and finalized months ago.

True. I wonder how many folks understand magazine production schedules.

Yup, can't blame Festool for the advert, it would have been in the pipe-line months ago. What they can be blamed for is the utter incompetence in not anticipating how understandably popular this deal would have been and not manufacturing sufficient stock before advertising the deal, you know... considering how many months in advance they planned it.

While "modern" marketing has stripped the words "limited edition" of any meaning grounded in reality sometimes limited actually means limited.  All too often today "limited" is just a buzzword used to get you clicking "proceed to checkout" as quickly as possible, only to see retailers dumping that "limited edition" for half price a year later.  When Porsche brings out a new GT car (reference the unexpected GT4) if you are reading about it the first time in a magazine you are already FAR too late, dealer allocations were sewn up by savvy buyers at the first HINT.

I ordered one and maybe I will get it maybe not but in any event the worst senario is I buy a new ETS 125 (or whatever they call it in NA) and if I buy a new tool as well which I could have used the voucher for I will have paid $245 (assuming no price increase on the ETS) for what I could have gotten for $99.  While $146 is $146 I don't see any reason to be upset about it since nobody promised me I could get this LIMITED tool.

Funny with all the talk of delays and uncertain further fulfillment I called my local dealer this morning to see if they had any coming in "unclaimed", they told me they had called their rep yesterday to see if they could get some, and were waiting to here back, I didn't break the bad news to them...

Gotta feel for the dealers on this one. I imagine this is creating a lot of headaches, especially after likely being thrilled by the initial response. Hopefully, there's a solution that leaves most parties satisfied!

Will the new sanders alive on November 1st or ship on November 1st? Thanks.

Festool has always had it in the past that products would be available (releasable by the dealers) for sale or shipping on the stated date.  With the demand outstripping the supply in this case everything is still be worked out.  Stay tuned.

Peter

I will remain patient and hope that my sander arrives in a reasonable time after Nov 1st. I'm on pins and needles though so if it's like December or later I'm gonna be po'd.
