A better way to remove electric cord casing?

There's a few alternative methods I've employed over the years:

Score & bend, which will split uncut depth of outer sheath.  You will prob. need to practise this method, as your technique will improve over time.  This only works with the PVC sheathing found on cheaper, lower quality cables.

Longitudinal slitting, which must not be done in the hand.  On a firm surface the blade of an adjustable Stanley knife can be set to just the right depth.

Nibbling with a set of side cutters from the cut end until required length of outer sheathing is removed.

Grabbing two individual conductors with pliers and stretching outwards away from each other to tear the outer sheathing, which may be subsequently trimmed to the required lengths.

Realistically, a specialised sheathing removal tool is really only required for critical or easily damaged applications such as fiber optics etc. unless you do it all day every day.  Even then, either of the first 2 methodi I've suggested will be quicker & easier anyway.

Specialist stripping tools are really only for Tools or Pros.
