So I'm unloading my tools the other day on the jobsite and the interior designer walks by and gasps "Oh my god, how did you make that?  It's incredible!".  I replied it's just a work bench with saw cuts (from my TS55).  "Hang on to that..." and, "Can I have it?"she says.  Knowing its newfound value I replied "For a price!"

Who knew?  Here I was thinking it was plywood with cuts in it and she thinks it's Art. FESTart?

How much did you sell it for?

If those lines were colour I could see how you were trying to copy Jackson Pollock.

It's still a work in progress, so I'm going to hold on to it for now. [tongue]

I should not that I'm working in a "modern" style house so that's probably why the designer went crazy over it.

My wife had the same idea a couple of months ago. She is a professional ceramacist, creating contempory art. She created some vase-shaped objects, built from slabs of clay that were rolled into pieces of foam I used under sheets I cut.

You probably end up selling it for $250 thinking you got a great deal and then she sells it to her clients for $5000.  ;D ;D ;D

That's hilarious.  [big grin]  Imagine if you'd only thought to put some muddy boot prints on it first.

It might be a great way to finance replacement MFT tops!   [eek]  LOL!

Anyone got one ready to replace who fancies a go at trialing this idea. Put it up on ebay start bid at cost of new top, then sit back and wait to see if anyone takes a bite.
Great selling points, it is an original there will never be an exact copy.
It does not need a frame, hanging fixings can go on the reverse side or into any edge.
Potentially a two in one artifact as you can flip it around for a different look!

Good names for the piece:

Chaos Through Precision
or
Perforation Ploughed Perfection.

[laughing] ;D [big grin]

Man that is such a good idea. If anyone does this please let me know how it goes.

Hi Jon,

I don't pretend to understand Modern Art, but I agree with what Rudy Guiliani said some years ago - "If I can make it, it's not art".

That's how I used to feel.  But now I realize that I'm much too talented to be associating myself with you bumpkins  [tongue].

If you guys want to make shop art on the cheap, just get canvas, carpenter's glue and all the saw dust from your CT's.  Happy squeezing!  Don't forget to sign it! [eek]
