Of course Tom Bellemare called ASAP...And we might have narrowed it down to the fan, I plugged it back in and the bit was still moving nicely, but the sound was ungodly.

doesn't it have a 3 year warranty?  Should cost you nothing.

Whoo hoo!  Just got my domino back!

I was worried that it wasn't covered under warranty (I purchased it used from a nice older hobbyist who hardly used it) and it was a pin-style so I figured I had to bite the bullet.

Turns out it was covered thankfully, since they replaced:  the armature, the field assembly (field coil?), the switch linkage, bearings, and the fan air guide!

I'm glad I didn't have to find out how much that would have cost!

A big thank you to Festool service, you guys are awesome.  Great, timely service.  This is why we buy your tools.
