yeah, hi, Festool.  This is Garry's wallet.  Could you PLEASE ease up on the pricing on this stuff?  These things are pretty expensive and Garry has bought a LOT of stuff in the last few weeks.  It doesn't look like he'll let up any time soon, so anything you can do would help.

Thanks in advance...

;D

Garry,
Directed by another post of yours, I just spent quite a few minutes reading your website and your AV company capabilities. It seems like you are positioning yourself as a high quality company...not a cheapo seller....so paying full price on Festool good should be your desire...if not, there is a lot of yellow available. Also, you broadcast that the company buys you your Festool tools...so it is just a biz expense (by the way, I would never offer this type of info publicly...IRS too nosey.)
Welcome to FOG. Good people and ideas here. In 1975 I was marketing mgr of Beseler until 80 when I set up my own AV company...butproducer of corporate materials. I knew my dealers well and still keep track of a couple. That industry  has changed significantly. I think you are on the right track.

John,

I feel like I've been contacted by a celebrity ;D  I've read your entire site (some of it several times) and I greatly appreciate your efforts.

My post was another weak attempt at levity.  I actually really (REALLY) respect that Festool has price protection.  I deal with some vendors that offer this, as well, and it certainly makes for a better business relationship.  Mass market companies are the worst (Sony, Sharp, etc.) but the higher end stuff is always better.

I have no intention of trying to find discounts on gear.  I am very pleased with the service that I'm getting from Bob Marino, and I like spending money with the "little guy".  there are actually 3 Festool retailers within 20 miles of me (shopping on-line, I do at least save the sales tax).

Thanks again for the kind words.

Guys, Festo seems expensive?
Do something funny and reheartening: List some of the Festo-Numbers of your tools, load a virtual shopping cart on the german website festool.de, and likewise on the us site. You'll be delighted!

Despite being manufactured in Germany, Festo Tools are cheaper in US. Really, if us tools had the voltage rating I need (located in Germany) I'd order my stuff overseas. Just whacks my brain....could somebody explain to me why it's cheaper to sell tools in countys 6.000 mls away from their origin (Apart from missing electronical brakes maybe)? Gives me the shits...

We don't even get pack deals.... need to buy everything separate. Not a single % off the tag price, only if you're real good you can get some add on's from your dealer....

Aaargh! >:(

Yes.  Less expensive in USA.  Given the continuing downward trend of the value of USA currency relative to the Euro and other currencies, I wouldn't expect Festool USA prices to move lower.

Good Morning,
Since the last post in this discussion, we have seen a sharp rise in gas prices in the US.  Here in New England, gas prices have gone up more than 40% since November 2007!!

Since fuel prices affect every other part of our economy, I wonder about the particular ways it will change Festool prices.  Also, what's happening with fuel prices in Germany, and how does that affect prices everywhere for Festool customers?  As much as we hate to see it, how much of the price increases are just simple economics and cannot be helped?

Matthew
