A really simple and inexpensive systainer radio and CD player

I purchased a Bosch Powerbox radio and CD player many years ago and was reasonably happy with it until the CD player stopped working a couple of years ago.  Even my local reliable electronics repair shop could not get parts to repair the CD player.  I used the CD part of the thing as much as the radio and felt lost without it.  None of the job site radios that are now on the market seen to have a cd player.

What to do?

I purchased an inexpensive small inexpensive CD/Radio and out fitted a systainer-3 to hold it along with some CDs.  Here are a couple of photos:

It runs on mains power or 8 C cells.

It's easy to lift the player out of the systainer so I didn't cut any holes for the cord or the speakers.  I might do that sometime.

Hey Frank. I have the Bosch as well and had the CD player go bad. I often use it still, but grab the motorola handsfree from the van to stream itunes through the radio. It has a 12v socket, so can charge the phone or handsfree, lasts all day, no commercials. My last big job was a three floor apartment bldg, if we put my radio in the stairwell, everyone could tune their own into it and we had the same music playing in the whole building. I took requests!

I'm no young-in myself (actually my birthday is tomorrow, I'll be 45), but the day I first got an ipod 8-9 years ago was the day I stopped carrying around cds.

Just on my phone I probably have 3k-8K songs on it.  I'm a press random kind of guy though...

Can't imagine tripping over 400 cds...

Well spotted!  I saw Tom at the Empire Hotel in Timmins about 1965 before he became famous throughout Canada.  He was a great performer and we will miss him
