Does festool sell just the insert for 5" abrasives? Or do you guys make your own insert?  There's almost a $30 difference between a sys2 and the 5" abrasive sys.

Do you already have a Systainer?

You could go with a Systainer 2 and make a grid using plywood or plastic.  The discs will be set on edge, allowing you to store more of them.  I will not say there is an economic benefit because of your time into making the grid.

700858 is the systainer insert for the 125, call Festool service, they're cheap and they send them out quickly.  I bought three so I could keep all sizes available and drop them into a sys III.  888-337-8600 ext 10750

That's an awesome setup Willy  [cool]

Did you use cross half lap join for the separators? and is that 9mm ply?

i know I'm asking a lot of questions, but I'm absorbing so much from you guys  [wink]

Thanks, Mario.  You nailed it.  I used 1/4" (6mm) Baltic birch.  I also did one for the RO 90 abrasives.  Pay attention to the bottoms of the partitions due to stiffening ribs on the bottom of the systainers.  Don't hesitate to ping me if you have any questions.  [smile]

Hey Sparky...nice job on both the 125mm & the 90mm inserts.  [thumbs up]  [thumbs up]  I may have to copy both of those. I really hate unpiling and then repiling the discs in the standard Systainer inserts.

Thanks, Cheeser!  [smile]

Speaking about abrasive inserts, I really like using the Granat foam hand pads. Specifically the 125mm x 115mm, 497 09x series. They’re handy for everything. I stash them in one side of the Festool tool box while the other side stores other abrasives. [attachimg=1]
