Looking through the catalog there are all this accessories for the router table where all there is is a small barely distinushable picture of the accessory with a brief desciption. Oftentimes there is a high price next to that item. If you want me to spend that much money on this accessory give me more information about it so I know what I am buying. If you don't put it in the catalog at least put it on the website. :-\

Mike--

You're absolutely right.  While we've made great strides here at FOG in explaining and showing why you want to spend a gazillion bucks for a piece of acrylic or aluminum with no moving parts, that only works if the would-be buyer knows about FOG.

I think Festool is missing out on sales, not only of the add-ons, but the tools themselves, by not providing more information about the add-ons on the website and in the catalog, where people who aren't even newbies yet would look for information.

Check McFeelys.com for better pictures than you'll find at Festoolusa.com.
Isn't true in all cases but when McFeelys has picked up on the problem
with an item the result is 10 times better than at the mothership's site.

I often do that even though I usually buy from my regular ISA, Bob Marino.

Mike,

You might want to check out the FOG Reference Library (http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?board=30.0) and the FOG Tool Reviews (http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?board=19.0).  They both include accessories references and reviews.

Jerry, Brice, and John have done some very nice work reviewing tools and accessories on their sites:
-http://jerrywork.com/ (Click on "Manuals")

Finally, Forrest put together a Consolidated List of Festool Links (http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=1185.0) that includes most of the articles, reviews and other write-ups that have occured worldwide.    It's a great resource.

Regards,

Dan.

I know that this is a priority in the creation of the 2008 catalog.  Also, I hope to soon begin work on a complete re-design of the FestoolUSA.com website.  I know that the website needs a lot of work and I embrace the challenge.  Supplemental photography, video and copy for accessories will be part of the changes I hope to incorporate into those changes.

That is a big job!
I know you'll do good but the task is so large you'll need help.

Shane,

Just a suggestion about the Festool USA site...  There is a massive amount of great content on FOG.  You may want to consider using this content in the Festool USA site.

Obviously you'd need to get the content creator's permission, but I suspect that most people would be amenable to this as long as you gave the author credit and, if appropriate, included a link their website.

I'm sure that you and your team could create some great content.  However, what would it cost you in time and money to create something like Brice's EXCELLENT MFS review/tutorial?  Or his great edge routing accessories review?  Seth Semenza did a VERY nice review of the LS130 and Matthew wrote up a couple of excellent reviews of the RO125 and RO150 sanders.  On a more modest vein, my review of the Boom Arm wasn't completely bad.  How much would it it cost you to replicate this content?

Something to consider.

Dan, I completely agree that there's a lot of great consumer generated content.  Providing a mechanism for sharing these resources via the Festool USA website will definitely be a consideration in the re-design.

Shane,

Excellent!  Festool is great company with an active, committed user community.  It would be great to see that synergism leveraged.
