[member=62998]woodtales[/member] - can you provide more information what you have in mind? - maybe some pictures showing the arrangement ?
we're always looking for "problems" to solve - that's how our GRS-16 series of Guide Rail Squares came to be

Fast cap makes a system with 2 - 64" extensions with brackets that mate it to the Kapex saw. It has a sliding stop for cuts. Instead of the Fast Cap extensions I would like to use the extensions I already have. (Track Saw)

Hi,

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

I am a little confused as to what track saw guides you are reffering to ?  Do you mean the guide rail (tracks) that the track saw runs on?

Seth

Seth The 64" extensions that Fastcap make are not track saw tracks,  he is referring to the 64" segments for the Kapex compatible Best Miter Fence made by Fastcap.

Possibly he wants to know if some of those Fastcap Best Fence System parts are compatible with the Festool Kapex stand or does he have the buy the complete Fastcap Kapex Best Fence version.

The fastcap stuff is all here for the Kapex:

Well I  am not sure? Maybe I am just somehow reading this wrong.

Seth

Sounds to me like he want to use his FS rails instead of buying fastcap's.

[member=62998]woodtales[/member] - maybe you should contact fastcap to see if you can come up with something together.

I thought he wanted to use Festool 497514 KA-UG-R-L Extensions for the Kapex instead of Fastcaps 64" fences, but use the fast cap accessorizes.

I wouldn't even try to use Tracksaw rails, they are way to thin, talk about damaging them and making them warped, bent and dented.

" I would like to use the extensions I already have. (Track Saw) " - Is what he wrote.

Maybe he'll come back and further the discussion.

Sorry. In the middle of all this I found out my Vizsla had bladder cancer and I had to say goodbye last Wednesday.

My goal was to take the track saw guides and mate them to my Kapex to use as a cutoff guide. The other thing I would need would be a stop for multiple cuts. I hope this is a little clearer now. Sorry for the delay.

Sorry for your loss (I never heard of the breed before, they are beautiful dogs)

The guiderails aren't really ideal for this application due to their (lack of) sturdyness, but if it works out it's less stuff to carry with you.

You could mount a small piece of plywood to these brackets: multiblades kapex brackets And adjust the height so it will be flush with a guiderail on top, if you make the plywood a bit longer than the bracket, you can then attach the guiderail to it, with a T-bolt and wingnut, or just use a railclamp.

Same principle for the leg: you can make a simple adjustable leg out of plywood, and screw a flat piece on top for a railclamp.

I was thinking about limitstops for the stopflags, but they ride on the wrong channel to be usefull (but maybe they can be modified, or frankensteined for the knob and glidenut).

If it doesn't work out, the multiblades brackets look like a good base for plywood extentions with a kreg rail system for example.
