Hi,

Is there an adapter that will thread onto a bare 27mm hose end (no fittings) and press-fit onto the tool end of a 27mm hose?  I'm trying to make an adapter for a non-Festool sander with an odd dust collection port without dedicating a full-length hose.

I don't know about any fitting that will thread onto a bare D27 hose that would work for your application, but the Fein Step Adptor will fit snuggly over the D27 tool end fitting.  What size is the non-Festool tool's dust port?

This is for an oval port on the Mirka Ceros.

Oval port? It's round, man.

I'm actually in the very same boat so I know what you're after. I still haven't found the perfect adapter yet but did come up with something decent. All you need is a stubby length of 27mm hose with a 2nd rubber tool end (reducing sleeve, part No. 487 071), and a 3-inch piece of 1-1/4" ABS plumbing pipe. The bare hose end obviously threads into the Ceros, and the 1-1/4" ABS is a perfect coupler for two rubber tool ends. Quick and easy.

Mess around with the ABS piece a bit: scuff up the inside for better grip, round over the inside edges, etc. If it ever starts to slip or you're just a spaz you can even go to the extreme of smearing the inside with ABS glue and coating it with ABS dust for added bite.

Round?  Hmmm.  I haven't picked it up yet, but my memory has me believing it is oval.  I am thinking of the connection between the adapter supplied with the Ceros that threads onto the bare hose.  Maybe I've got it backwards.  It sounds like you have something workable though.

I lubed up the end of the Festool hose,  then turned the Ceros sander hose receptor while pushing the Festool hose into the threaded Ceros threaded receptor.  It has worked for now, but it doesn't exactly make a quick connect anymore because its a tight fit.  For now I am only used my Ceros and CT 36 together and it hasn't come loose yet.  But I will have to come up with something better.  A 27mm or 1 1/4"  1 foot long "whipline" would work great, so that way the adapter connection would be away from the sander allowing the flexibility still.  Then you just hook up your festool hose there at the end of the 1 foot long "whipline" .  It is an issue that I hope gets worked out!!!  If all else fails I will buy the y adapter to hook up at the ct36 and use 1 hose for the ceros and 1 hose for everything else.  I will figure something out.

See what I did in the pic.  Sorry about the velcro being in the way.  I got about 3/8" to 1/2" engagement, that doesnt sound like much but its a tight fit so it seems to hold well.

Yes that works.  I made insertion a bit easier by chamfering the end of the Festool hose.  It isn't too difficult to insert and it stays in pretty well though it can be knocked off accidentally (it has happened twice in maybe three hours of use).  I may take it to the next level and carve male threads on the Festool hose with a V-tool.

I have a 1.5" hose and the grey fittings that come on them can be squeezed onto the round piece on the mirka.
This is the fastest, best way I have found thus far.

Most 1.5 hose ends will fit but the festool cleaning kit with the non antistatic hose has a soft rubber end and it is a great fit for themirkas port.

Someone please come up with some sort of adapter or quick connect. Wouldn't mind a quick connect to the power cord to the actual sander either.
Kind of let down by the small, ugly systainer too it has no space for paper.
So I got a anthracite grey tloc 3 for it. Now it can breath and have plenty of room for pads and paper.
BTW the best pad I have found for what I do is the mirka unload soft. I like it better then the yellow ceros soft pad!
