Adapter For Using Compact Routers With The Festool LR32 Guide

For anyone who purchased the DeWalt Plunge Lockout Kit before 6/25/2022.
If you are having problems with it, please email me.

I had one person tell me their spring seemed weak and I was able to get them
fixed up.

I have one of if not the first of these. I haven't used it yet on a project though. Good that Dave has picked this up. I sold my OF 1010 last week as I don't foresee needing it now that I have the DeWalt mounted.

Hi Bob

Excellent work ! [eek]
I live in France and I guess shipping prices are through the roof just like OZ ?

Would happily order For my Makita DRT50 (EU equivalent to XTR01).
Have you ever shipped to EU ?

Any help would be appreciated  [wink]

One thing I forgot to mention concerning the LR32 adapter plate is it can be stored in the LR32 Systainer easily.

The adapter fits in that shallow space directly below the LR32 Guide Plate (first photo) and the other bits can fit in space above as shown in the second photo.

You can see I have two 1/4" shank 5mm bits from Freud, the Rocker Pin Lockout and two of my M6 knobs included with the LR32 Adapter, plus a 6mm and an 8mm collet from Elaire Corporation in the Systainer with room to spare.

Adapters are available for multiple routers now.

* DeWalt DW611 and DCW600 with plunge base
* Porter-Cable 450PK with plunge base (same plunge base as the DW611 and uses the same LR32 Adapter Kit)
* Makita RT0701c and variants
* Porter-Cable 690 with 6931 plunge base
* Porter-Cable 890 with 8931 plunge base
* Milwaukee 5615 & 5616 with plunge base

LR32 Adapter kits and my other items are still available if interested. I am selling kits every week. My printer runs over 8 hours a day to keep a few of every item in stock so no delays in shipping as yet.

I have three orders to go out already today.

The Control Grips for the DeWalt and Makita compact router plunge bases are also on my website.

They are available in either the standard smooth grip or the fuzzy grip which has a little more texture.

The DeWalt version also incorporates my unique Plunge Lockout feature which disengages the plunge lock so your router can move up and down freely. This is a great advantage when boring a series of holes and for other tasks.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm interested in the Makita adapter. The site says ordering is currently unavailable. Is there an ETA for if/when that might change?

I’ve been using the DeWalt track adapter.  It seems to work fine.

Can you preview the main points where this one is better.  I would invest in a 10 minute video, but not a hour long one without some likelihood that there was some significant advantage.

I think a lot of people feel the same, so offering a tightly edited version touching on the key points might make sense.  10 to 15 minutes is a good goal.

Let's try this...[member=60461]Bob D.[/member]

Bob and I chatted outside the FOG frequently. I have been unable to reach him since last year, and he's been inactive on the FOG since November.

I'm concerned, but have not been able to reach him, both his mobile and email are unavailable.

Some more photos of the Makita Adapter. Router can
be mounted in either direction same as the DeWalt.

Are the Makita version for sale yet? If so, how do I get one?

TSO is saddened to have to share that Bob D. passed away very suddenly. His wife, Linda, shocked us with the news the day after we had agreed in principle on an planned longterm working relationship in the development of new pproducts. I must confess that I struggled with sharing this news in a business context - i was deeply moved. Bob was not even 70 years old.

Bob was a consumate woodworker, engineer, problem solver and solution finder. As a TSO customer it was a natural that our contacts would grow beyond being a customer relationship. Each of us independently developed solutions to adapt non-FESTOOL routers for use with the LR 32 System. We had already developed a CNC machined Adapter set for the DeWALT Trim Router and were excited to have Bob's talents and time available to work with us in driiving this type of development forward.

Look for announcement shortly of TSO designed LR 32 and Non-FESTOOL router Adapter kits like the pictured example with the  DeWALT Trim Router.

I emailed a few weeks back. Sorry to hear. As I get older I'm more and more in touch with living in the moment and spending time with family.

I'm adapting a Milwaukee m18 router and plunge base and separately a Bosch 1617 with plunge base.

The Milwaukee router is easy. Piece of acrylic and a few holes. The 1617 plunge base needs some material removed around the bar slots. This results in limiting the base to everything but using a guide. I don't have a guide for that base so I don't care.

I think a person can make an adapter pretty quickly with a small sheet of plastic. No need to 3d print anything.

The bigger challenge is finding the best bits in 1/4 or 1/2 or finding the right collets/reducing sleeves. I found some good brad point 5mm 1/4 shaft bits from Southeast Tool and a 20mm 1/2 plunge bit from Trend.

Frank at FC Tools has a nice aluminum LR32 like product for trim routers. He's very responsive in email and I love his stuff.
https://fctools.co.uk/product/fc32-for-festool-and-bosch-rails/

Even better he has a template guide to convert your existing un-holey rails to LR32 style:
https://fctools.co.uk/product/fc32-rail-plunge-jig/

I looked at his Mafell guide rail square. Very impressive. I noticed that he says this new version ”now have the option to work with the new fc900 rail”. Any idea what rail this refers to?

I'm sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I obviously didn't know him but had read through a number of his posts and thought his work looked really top notch. Thanks [member=44099]Cheese[/member] and [member=8712]Richard/RMW[/member] for trying to help.

I had feared the worst but did not want to spread unfounded or inaccurate info. Bob had shared with me that you were having discussions and he was excited about the possibilities.

He was very generous and went out of his way to connect. We were "neighbors" in the sense he was an hour away but grew up minutes from our home and often tried to assist with local stuff. He'll be missed.

Carpe diem.

Thanks, but he really needs some pics of how to use it.

Interesting that it has something to do with the Zeta too.

Sure. He's a small shop and likely enjoys making good tools more than fiddling with websites and such.
