Adding and Onieda Dust Deputy

Have been giving some thought to adding an Onieda Dust Deputy to my CT Midi Dust extractor. Has anyone seen this or are presently using on on there systems.
It seems pricey but if it does the job probably worth it

I'm running the DD plastic cyclone on a doubled-up 5 gallon bucket and have yet to even empty the bag on a CT33.  The DD is awesome and no more bags to buy!  I got into the unit when they had their intro pricing.  Very inexpensive and worth it.  Not sure about the unit you've linked.  For $60 and my own buckets and silicone, definitely worth it!  I also already was using the boom arm and so was able to use the associated hoses.

I sell the Dust Deputies up here in Canada and they do work well.

What I don't like about them is how high they sit when on top of the dust extractors. Definitely something you need to think about when swinging pieces of wood around your shop.

Could you elaborate on how you doubled up the 5 gallon bucket?  Did you cut the bottom off of one?  Or are they top to top?  And how do you empty it?

This model (http://store.oneida-air.com/dust-deputy.aspx) of the Dust Deputy comes with two five gallon buckets.  When in use it can be very tippy, so I put a couple of bricks inside one bucket, then slip the other inside the first bucket with the cyclone on top.  This seems to add stability.

I found that a 5-gallon bucket fits nicely into a Systainer IV.  But, I don't know if that would be true of the DD buckets.  If not, RonWen has made a plywood piece that fits on the hose garage with a large hole to accept his, uh, can bucket.  [blink]  I know he has a picture of it somewhere...

By 'doubling up' on the 5 gallon buckets means there is one bucket inside another bucket.  This essentially strengthens the walls of the bucket which eliminates the collapsing of buckets (in a well sealed system).  Nothing is cut bucket-wise.  I did try to find thicker wall buckets but had no luck.

Emptying the bucket is as simple as removing the lid (which the DD is attached to) and dumping out.  I have lids with o-rings so they seal quite well.  I'm sure they are fairly common especially with old paint buckets.

As far as stability goes, just secure to boom-arm (if you are using one).  I used 1/4" shock cord.  Easy on, easy off, goes nowhere unless you want it to even when you move the whole CT and boom arm.  This also shifts the bucket to the boom arm mast, which leaves some space in front of it.

I just noticed you are using this on a midi so scratch the boom arm comment!  (I'll leave it there in case someone else with a boom arm is checking this thread).
