I'm not sure how popular this would be, but I'd LOVE to see the whole variety of Systainer options offered by Tanos presented here by Festool.  For instance, check this out:
Storage Trays for Systainer 4

When will we see Festool expand their structured storage offerings?

Brandon, I too wish they would expand their line; the one you pictured would make a great fishing tackle box :)!

Bradon, I too would like to see Festool expand their line. I currently use a pair of B+D(?) carriers to transport an assortment of cabinet items, and it would be great to snap them together like all of my Festools. Part of the reason I bought into Festool are the systainers, I install what I make.

I would love to see those available in USA, too.  I waste a lot of time looking for accessories and small parts I know I have somewhere.  Problem is, there are too many possibilities.  I also much like the concept of Systainers with hinged front panels.  Imagine a couple of those with the inserts pictured in the link above.  You wouldn't have to remove a Systainer from a stack of Systainers to access the insert trays.  You could label the fronts of the trays according to their contents, and the front panels of the Systainers.  Different colors could be useful, too, to identify different categories of accessories and fittings containers, to also help speed up finding what you want.

What do you guys have for sortainers in NA? I'm using a 4 drawer Sortainer, along with three SYS IV's for my hand tools, and it works pretty well. I might get another.

Hi,

Festool or otherwise. I think Tanos just needs to have a NA dealer. Or someplace in Europe needs to offer them with a less costly shipping option. They really are not all that heavy. I have purchased several items from UK and yes the shipping was more but not really over the top. Though at some point I will take that plunge and go for a large order from Kofferfunshop.

I think we need a Tanos distributor here in the UK, too. I guess we have the same range of systainers available via Festool as you do in NA, but to get more we too have to buy in from Germany. As I've said before, I really love the systainer system, and I believe that if it was properly marketed there could be a huge market for it outside of Festool tools.

I agree completely.  Systainers are gems.

After buying my OF1400 and a bunch of bits, I looked around for a suitable bit storage.  I found lots of plans for bit storage in router table drawers and wall cabinets, but almost nothing that was portable.  I.e., something that usable in my shop (garage) and also something that I could take to the work.  I even bought a "portable" cabinet at Woodcraft.  (It was poorly designed and expensive, but cheaply made.  I took it back.)  Then I noticed (and bought) the router bit systainer.  It's essentially perfect for my needs.

At that point I realized how limited I was in my thinking.  Although a bit pricey, systainers and sortainers are great outside of their value as Festool storage containers.

After I finish the master bathroom remodel and building a very large storage shelf in our crawl space (shelf will be 8'  X 45'), I'm "remodeling" my garage into a Euro-style shop.  My goals are a shop that can be quickly set up for a weekend of work and then quickly broken down and stored.  That means compact, portable/movable tools and compact, flexible, portable storage.  Systainers will be a core component.

Having a Tanos dealer in the US would be GREAT for the expanded options that they provide.

Ditto.  I just ordered 3 Systainer units this week:  one with the little removable boxes, another for storage router bits and a bare Systainer 2 to make into a storage case for my extra LS 130 profiled pads and sanding supplies, based on Seth's idea.  I am still undecided as to whether I'd rather build a chest with some wooden drawers to hold some tooling such as chisels, get a Veto Pro bag or two, or more Systainers.  I don't need to make all of my tools portable since I am a hobbyist mainly working on my own property.  I would still like to have one of the units that has two large drawers plus the smaller drawers on top.  FestoolUSA does not offer that unit in North America.

BTW , Dave it has been working well. I would like to see pics when you are done :)

I love systainers but I don't like the fact that you either have to be super-anal and label each drawer with what's inside it or just have a photographic memory. Clear drawers are "instant label" as you can clearly see what's inside each drawer... True WYSIWYG :-) Maybe what Festool needs is a Transtainer aka Transformer that can go from solidly clipped Sortainer to fully open... butterfly where all compartments were visible and accessible w/o spilling.

Hey... if anyone can design and implement it, Tanos can. Maybe some kind of accordion type design that can be pulled open to find what you need and then folded back to secure the entire rack.

My specific application for this is things like fasteners where you just want to see an array of screws rather than read labels looking for what you need. It might be my hobbyist nature and that I have to "see" a no. 8 vs. no. 10 screw to really know what I need!

That said. Sortainers are my first choice when I think of all the junk I could end up buying.
