Hey all,

I currently own the Festool CXS and the Centrotec Installers kit. I think they are both great!

I am also looking at purchasing the Milwaukee 12V drill/driver to have around the shop. Is there a drill/driver bit set comparable to Centrotec system?

My other alternative would be to buy another Festool drill which would lead to the discussion of which size?

Thanks,

Keith

If you are looking for standard bits in s systainer type setup for the Milwaulkee look this makita set. **Just noticed this set was discontinued, but may be available elsewhere.**

at http://www.toolnut.com/Makita_B_45375_Contractor_Bit_Systainer_Set_100_Pc_p/b-45375.htm

But I would just do another Festool Drill. Since you alread have a CSX, I would get at least a 15V which I have and love, But you could go to the 18V which would go farther.

Snappy -- which, btw also makes Centrotec compatible bits -- offers some pretty comprehensive sets for normal chucks.  I've only used their Centrotec stuff, but I think they're good quality.

Are you looking at picking up the drill/driver with the Jacobs chuck or with the 1/4" pocket driver? If you're wanting the M12 with the traditional chuck then you don't need to get a new bit set as you can still put all your Centrotec bits in the keyless chuck. Of you're wanting the M12 pocket driver then bosch makes some nice sets as well as Milwaukee. You could always pickup a Sys1 and get the small bit sets you see fit and stick them in the Systainer already organized in their small boxes.

Second the Snappy Centrotec bits. And I also got a #2 Robertson Snappy Centrotec for using with my Kreg.

I bought the Makita bit set and it's a great all around kit. Not compatible with Centrotec chuck but works just great with the Jacobs chuck in my two Festools. Or you can put the, in the Centrotec bit holder which accepts standard drill bits.

As far as drivers are concerned I have the Bosch PS22-2a brushless driver along side my CXS. Awesome little gun. Nothing compares to the CXS though. I just got the Hilti 12v set too. Three guns, they are pretty slick machines.

In case you are not aware, there is an adapter that fits into a 3-jaw chuck and allows the mounting of a Centrotec chuck so you can use all the Centrotec bits with another manufacturer's tool.  In fact, you probably got one in the Centrotec Installer's Kit.

The centrotec chucks fit straight on the spindle of the Metabo 18v and 10.8v drills that have the removable chucks, they also fit on the Mafell drills as they are basically the same drill as the Metabo. That gives you other options to use your centrotec bits if you don't get a festool drill.

The Snappy 7 Piece Cabinetmaker's Set is back on Amazon for $57.50.  These price reductions don't last long so if you are interested act quickly.

I can't remember.  Did you end up getting one on the last sale?

[member=30413]mike_aa[/member] Thanks for the heads up.  I actually ended up splitting the cost when it was at that price a few months ago with a friend who has started converting over to Festool -- he took the countersinks for 38 and I got the hinge bits for 20.
