thinking about the angle unit...i've been using a sliding bevel square that is NOT cutting the mustard!  i wonder what other choices i can make are???  Who's got a favorite tool? :-\

As I understand it, the angle unit is really only for transferring/marking an angle then placing the rail onto it to get that angle on your to be cut surface. People here have complained that it can move easily off your setting.  Once you've placed the rail down, clamp it in place then your sweet to go. Jury is still out on the kit, some love it, some think its overpriced. I hardly use the angle unit much but the rest of the kit has been very useful. Clamps and strips.

the angle unit needs clearer marketing- it is really for transfer of angles, as mentioned above, and it does this well. not great for lots of repeat 90 degree cuts we typically do all day long. i suggest looking up Guido Henn's videos. in one of them he has a simple homemade 90 degree cutting setup. its just a panel to hold material, with a front/rear feature to hold the rail. i don't keep track of his videos so i don't have a link, but perhaps someone here who is more on top of things can remember??

there is also the mft, of course, but if the budget does not allow, as mine did not at one point, a home made unit works well for very cheap.

another setup is buying a mft replacement top, around $50-175, depending on size, and putting a little base on it to lift it off the floor/table a bit, and using qwas dogs or similar product to set the rail to 90.

Are you referring to the FS-KS?  This guy?

Or are you just asking about a better bevel gauge than what you have?

As stated previously the FS-KS is not universally liked.  It has had a history of not locking in place and other negative comments have been that it didn't have presets / stops at the commonly used angles  I modded mine to hold the angle better, but some others have tried my method and didn't have the same success that I did.

My first use of mine was to install a screen door in an opening that was a parallelogram.  It worked to well and I needed to cut some more off for operational clearances.

I use my angle unit without any problems. I had to learn to pick the assembly up to move it. The anti-slip strips on the rail do a pretty good job of keeping the unit from sliding.

The angle unit is not good.  Frankly, it doesn't matter what it's marketed to do - it doesn't do it well.  There are several aftermarket "rail squares" around such as the qwas square .. or make your own.  Don't waste your money on the angle unit.

Yet, I have no issues at all with the angle unit. Well worth it to me.
