Having been impressed with the previous BF/MFT builds posted here over the years, I finally undertook building my own as I was in need of a proper workbench for my new workshop. It took me a little over a month to complete and cost a bit more than I was expecting, but it’s done and I love it. I made a few changes and additions from the previous designs, including an attached boom arm (1-1/4” EMT conduit), a nook for the CT26, and increased the overall height to 37-1/4” which I found to be ideal for my height (6’). I used the Parf MkII drilling jig for the holes and was amazed at its accuracy. The hinge system and fence is from Dashboard, drawer pulls from Orange Aluminum, and the 1515 & 1530 aluminum framework from 80/20. Drawers are 5/8” Baltic Birch and pull-out shelves 3/4”. MDF finished with 50/50 mix of wipe-on poly and mineral spirits.

Fantastic result! I'm a little jealous your workbench is about the size of my workshop though! ;-)

Thank you! I’ve got about 700 sq. Ft. to work with, so this BF/MFT doesn’t eat too much of that space.

Congratulations on your new shop AND your new workcenter/ MFT Build.

Not only very well done but also helpful that you shared construction specifics for the benefit of others to follow your footsteps.

Hans

Thank you! I also have this BF/MFT fully modeled in SketchUp and created construction drawings in LayOut (.PDF) should anyone want them. I can provide a DropBox link upon request.

That’s a thing of beauty! I am envious of all your surface space.

I also have the dashboard hinge, it’s so well machined, I love it.

Thank you for the compliments! Here are a few in progress photos to show how I tackled things…

Well done!  I use my BF/MFT-style workbench on every project and it is a great fit for my small shop.

Very nice.  Would defintely be interested in the plans if you can post the dropbox link.  I've been thinking about building one, as my current one is not the best.

VERY well done sir!  I particularly like your caster implementation and used of 8020.  Nice job on the boom arm/vac placement, you should be very happy with its functionality.

Looks awesome. Great job. Id love to get the sketch up file and any other info you’re willing to share?

Thank you everybody. I will post a DropBox link here later today with the .skp model and the .pdf construction drawings. I also generated a cut list using OpenCutList which was helpful for breaking down the sheet goods.

MikeGE…I wanted to use that Valchromat for the top as you did on your BF/MFT, but sourcing it was cost prohibitive here.

Here's the DropBox link to the SketchUp model, the construction drawings, and the sheet goods cut list. I still need to compile my final parts list, which I will try to do this weekend and post that here as well. Let me know if you have any difficulties accessing the contents of this link...

I understand about the problem finding Valchromat in the States.  i had already purchased a full sheet of 19mm MDF for my workbench, but found a stocking distributor for Valchromat about 16 kilometers from me.

I love your bench Workstation design. You said you had plans /layout for the design just for the asking. Well, Im asking for them. thanks for the info.
