First project using the Domino joiner. I call it a skill building project, because it is for the garage/workshop. Plus I used a different approach to hold the Systainers onto the shelf. Instead of using dowels, I used what I had DOMINOes. I place two Dominoes on the back of each shelf, one at each back corner. There is a void, in the systainer, there that accepts a 10 x 50mm Domino. Fits great. Still need to add the additional pull out work surface at the top of the SysPort. You can always use a little more work space to put stuff.

Using that 50mm Domino is nice.  Very nice.  [thumbs up]

Never even crossed my mind.  Well, if it did, it crossed very quickly.  [crying]

nice job and smart thinking about the domonio holding it in place !

Very nice... I may have to make something like that myself!

Thanks for sharing.

I like your SysPorts... you'll find them very useful, I'm certain!

I also used a Domino as a key to lock the Systainer in place.  Works very well.

Here's another variant of your shelf idea.  My 'SysPort' is a bench.  One Systainer slot is taken by a 12-drawer Sortainer with screws, but I filled the top void with basically a kitchen organizer made of bamboo.  It sits very well on the Sortainer and just a small glueblock underneath locks the back; I used hide glue in case I changed my mind :)

I spy some 'Piggie' labels!   I like that drawer organizer.  I've been struggling with how to sort some random odds and ends, and you just solved it for me.   [big grin]

Greg, the pull out shelf is brilliant.

Did you use the 32mm shelf system for the slides?  Or just attach them where needed?

I was going to do the dowel Systainer support again, in my new setup... but I'm going to further explore the Domino approach.
Do you also have Dominos in the rear?  Or just the front?  I didn't remember to look at the bottom of a Systainer last night..
It'd require me to get the 10mm cutter, so there's some cost involved, but it seems more straightforward and certainly 'more Festoolish'... and really, I neeeeed the 10mm, riiiight?

Anyone know if T-locs have the same recess?

Those look really good.  Are the slides attached directly to the sides of the shelf, screwed into the end grain?

Or is there some sort of banding / edging for the slides to mount to?

Yes, got caught :) piggie labels and I love them!  I have a couple new items without the piggie labels and now they stand out  [crying]

I'm not sure how Greg did the Domino trick to lock in the Systainers, but in mine, I only put 1 Domino in the back to catch one of the side latches.  The front presses against the back of the sliding tray front so it stays square , but is easy to remove/replace.  However, if you'll notice, Greg's puts the Systainer so the front faces front whereas mine are sideways.  I didn't know if I'd like that or not when I made the bench and now I can say that I do.  Since it's a bench, I have more depth that I could use; putting them sideways gave me an extra column "for future expansion" :)

For spacing, I meant to take a picture, but I have a stack of spacer sticks I store underneath the bench.  Each is the height of a Sys1, 2, 3...; I stand them up on the slides below and put the next slide on top for attachment; keeps it all consistent and super easy.  I've only reconfigured a few drawers here and there so the spacers are nice.  I'm not that sophisticated to go all out with 32mm stuff on this :)

Or just attach them where needed? Yep, I just made some spacers, out of 1/4 ply for a SyS1, SyS2, Sys3 and a SyS4. So all the spacing is Constant

Do you also have Dominos in the rear? One 10mm Domino in each rear corner, hope the T-loc has the same void in the rear corner

Or just the front?  Front edge butts up against the front of the platform

Very cool, Greg.  What kind of casters are you using?

Scot

Two fixed and two rotate 360 degrees. I picked up some at Home Depot and some at OSH. As both stores were low in stock.

Having checked I am sorry to report that the new T loc systainers has chamfered corners so the domino will not work, but a dowel will I think !!
