I am sure that many of you have seen the new testimonial videos from Festool USA featuring real life users.  I ran across a new one on YouTube that has been out a couple of days.  This one features Dan Rush, one of our members and a guy that I have had the pleasure to gleen information from for several years ever since I met him at the initial End User Training class in Lebanon, Ind. in the late summer of 2009. Hopefully one day we will get to see a video of some of the tricks and tips he uses to work alone and do the installations that he does for some of the most discerning clients.

Congrats Dan!

Festool USA Video - Dan Rush

How did you get all the way up to the entrance of that big house Dan without the cops showing up? [big grin]

Dan is a great guy.  Met him earlier this year.  Nice video and work!

Curious what all those red containers are on the shelf in his shop!

The red containers are Folgers coffee containers.   I believe he keeps screws in them.  I recall seeing  " 2" square...." written on one of them.

So it seems like Dan really really really likes coffee!  The first 13 seconds is him drinking/holding coffee.

Yes they are Folgers coffee containers.  He also has an extensive Altoid tin container collection that he has wriiten about here also.  [poke]

Fitting cabinet frames to walls was a big reason I got a track saw, but of course it can do so much more as well.

I spotted this a few days ago too.  Like a couple of you I've had the pleasure of meeting Dan, great guy.  Well done Dan!

Thanks for the kind thoughts guys, but the real credit goes to Joe Toth and his video crew.  After two days of shooting, I was convinced that all we had was an overflowing blooper reel!!  Super editing!

It was great fun, and I very much appreciate the opportunity to step out of my normal work day and see how the Hollywood set works, but I think I'll stick with cabinet installs.

Be sure to check out the other videos on festool.tv.  Lots of great stuff.

Dan

Awesome video!  Well done Dan and Festool.  These are great!  What was the Systainer you were carrying to the house toward the end of the video -- looks like it had some holes on the side and feet on the bottom?

Good stuff!

That's a sys 4  I modified to hold my Senco compressor and nailers.  The feet are rubber and they keep the unit from rattling around when the compressor runs.

Dan, if you don't mind my asking, what lasers do you like to use for your installs? My el cheapo is a bear to level, time for an upgrade.

Paul, the laser in the video is a Stabilla lax 200. Pretty nice self-leveler, good accurate level and plumb lines.  Beyond about 15' the line gets a bit fuzzy.  Total thickness of the line is a shy 1/8", but once you're used to it, it's ok.  That level is part of my back up kit.

I prefer the pls 4.  Nice horizontal, level, and plumb bob feature. It's in my daily kit.i'd recommend it for interior trim and cabinet install work.

After 25+ years, I still haven't found "MY" perfect laser, the pls brand comes close though.

Hope this helps, Dan

I'm guessing that is a Senco PC1010 compressor? If so, I have one too and really like it. It's quiet and light the only downside being that it may have to recycle frequently. But, that's the tradeoff. In the end, it works great for my nail guns and filling the occasional tire or sports equipment.

I just ran across a thread where Dan posted about the compressor while looking for something else.  His replies start in post 11 in this thread:  http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-and-tanos-systainers/compressor-in-a-systainer/

i've always gone for compressors based on "ultimate use" instead of common use. As a result I've got a monster and a midget (one that could run two spray guns and one that can run an air brush). The irony is I rarely spray anything and something portable of an intermediate capacity in a systainer would make massive sense.

Very interesting [smile]
