The other day when I should have been sanding, I was poking around in my sawyer’s shop and came across the rather funky and skinny pieces of walnut.  6-9 inches wide and about 8 feet long.

Figured I’d use part to make a pair of feet for a floor lamp

Hers what we’ve got so far. Made a pair of feet and then 2 table lamp bodies and 2 floor lamp bodies.

Some great sap wood and spalting on the table lamps. The floor lamps are outstanding. Wonder full grain figure, some nice compression curl thrown in.

Hey, Ron, those are really nice looking, right on brand for your style.
Looks like that compression caused quite a crook, but if you can shorten it at that point, great.
That sap wood looks way more textured than the usual yellow/whitish.
Can't wait to see what you come up with.

[member=58857]Crazyraceguy[/member] Thanks. Got all four of those pieces drilled for wiring and hardware today. Just have to weld up some bases. Then sand, sand, sand!

The long piece on the left is the piece that had the worst crook and a bit of a twist as well. But they both jointed out without losing too much material.
