Anyone Ever use ICA finishes?

I was working on a project for a ultra high end cabinet maker at his house and commented on how amazing the finish looked on all of the trim, cabinets and furniture he made. I asked him what finish system he uses and he said ICA. He said its amazingly forgivable and anyone in his shops can spray it with little experience. He also said he uses HVLP just hooked to his compressor (with a dryer) He said he could probably get better results with a turbine setup but doesn't see a need.

So my question is, is it really that easy to use? Where can I get it? I would have asked him but his shop is in CA and a shop in Florida and doesnt do work in my area (Philadelphia)

I had not heard about ICA products before - I checked out their web site and they have some interesting products. I've just been using General Finishes High Performance Top Coat Satin - it's ok... but looking for something better.
I just invested in a serious HLVP system - one of the new Graco 9.5 ProContractor five stage sets (extra gun was included) - I already have their new UltraMax handheld gun, and their new HVLP guns use the same Flexliners as the Ultramax.

Fuji was my next choice - their reputation is great, and their newer units are quieter than most... the Graco Procontractor units pressurize the guns and shut off the turbine when it isn't used for 10 seconds or so. Hoping that will help with the noise.

Did you ever find an ICA products dealer? I sent a messenge them on Facebook but haven't heard back. Their products look pretty interesting. I'm in California, so some of their stuff might not be usable here.

I was sold on using Kem Aqua after reading so much about it here but ive never actually seen that finish in person. I have the Fuju Minimite 4 system.

I have never sprayed any ICA coatings, but from what I can gather from their site from previous research, they are using acrylic resins in their water borne coatings. While they may be formulated differently than Kem Aqua plus, I wouldn't hesitate recommending Kem Aqua plus as a very spray-able coating for turbine HVLP systems and tough coating for cabinetry, trim and furniture. I and Tom [member=8616]tjbier[/member] as well as other have used Kem Aqua extensively, and I can't recommend it enough.
Obviously preparation is key and any coating cannot do it's job if the primer or base coating is not compatible or apply incorrectly.

I didn’t. I gave my customer a call and he gave me the number of his local rep. I called him but he wasn’t about to give up the details or a distributor for a home/DIY setup. Can’t say I blame him!

I had pretty much decided on the KEM Aqua but I wanted to see if ICA was an option after seeing it. I’m back to using KEM though. Now I just need to find out who and what Sherwin Williams can sell me the stuff! (Philadelphia Market)
