Anyone using VCIs in their Systainers?

Does anyone have experience using vapor corrosion inhibitors (VCIs), which are sometimes called anti-corrosion emitters, inside their Systainers.  Basically it is either a piece of foam or a small packet infused with a volatile compound that is placed inside a closed container and emits a vapor inside the container that coats all metal surfaces and prevents rust.  I live on the coast, and the girlfriend wants her closets back.  This means moving my Systainers to the enclosed but not airtight garage.  I would like to see if the VCI's work, but I obviously don't want to use something that will ruin any of the moving parts on the Festools inside, such as the motors or sliding parts on the OF1400, etc.  I looked but did not see any posts on the FOG forum about VCIs.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have used Rustblox tabs (from www.brownells.com) in my toolboxes for years with no adverse effects.

Those are somewhat similar to the VCI's you mention, although perhaps not exactly the same.

I've never heard of anybody having an issue that they traced to a similar device FWIW.

Thank you for the info and for the link.  Those actually cost less than the ones I was looking at but seem to have the same vapor concept.

I have been using Zerust VCI Diffuser Series in my systainers for a long time now and have had no issues at all, no rust on anything either

I have some VCI emitters in or on all of my tools, systainers, and drawers. I am partial to the ones from BullFrog.

This is one of of those ideas that has been at the back of my overloaded mind for a while. Somewhat like the thing you but in a cigar box. Every time I open a tool bin and see condensation (either from siting in the truck or being put away wet) I get this feeling like I'm burning Benjamin's.

I have no useful information but thanks for the links.

I think you are looking at two different situations here.  On the one hand you want to keep corrosion off of the exposed metal surfaces which the VCI's address, but what about moisture in the rest of the tool and the electronics?  Would you also need a desiccant of some sorts to protect those?
