I was preordering 4 hours in.....

Got Apple Watch Sport 42mm Space Grey...

Activating right now....

Now I need an app to create the Festool Watch display......

Any good ?  I was a "no way" at first but the more i see & read about it the more I'm starting to see the appeal !  I think if the battery life was a bit better,,,,

So far so good. Only one bug so far that I identified related to the bluetooth connection going to sleep after a while. Not sure as to the cause yet but might be related to another bluetooth connection becoming active.

Like the information capability very much.... Took me 30 years to be convinced to try a wrist device again.... Not calling it a watch. So much more than that....

I heard the battery life sucks.  Let me know if that is true please.

One of the cooler function is the ability to remotly use the camera on the iphone so you can finally take a picture of yourself from a distance without a problem. You will see the shot on the screen.....

There are plenty of articles available via a Google search that go over battery life, but I will sum it up for your....1 day. Apple advertises this and plenty of tech reviewers have confirmed it.

I'm an Apple fan (not fanboy though) and I enjoy most Apple products.  However, I left the watch behind many years ago and have no interest in going back even if it's an Apple watch that does all these neat techy things.  I love new gadgets but don't see the watch maintaining high long term sales until it is a standalone product that you can use without an iPhone.  Of coarse I can see that happening some day when technology catches up.

Having started with an Apple IIe I'm a long time apple fan. I would never buy one of these, no particular reason though. However, my wife bought exactly the one she wanted in Berlin last month. She was thrilled because they said here that the one she wanted was on back order until July something.
Have fun, she loves hers, no understanding of why.

It is the ultimate communication piece..even Captain Kirk would be envious.... Love the health function and software integration.

I was in the apple store the other day and a really stupid apple staff member was going on to a customer basically saying that electricity and water doesn't mix and nobody would ever consider getting a battery powered watch wet ... I felt like shouting IDIOT at the stupid little girl.

Apple have found another thing to make their own. I generally like apple products, but this one annoys me. They've been lazy. Anyone that calls something a "sport watch" but you can't swim with is having a complete lend of you.

I'll buy one of these things because I simply must in my line of work ... but this will be the first time I buy something from apple that makes me annoyed. [mad]

The one that really gets me is the "Edition" ... $30 worth of cheap chinese electronics in a Gold case - SUCKER!! I'd honestly laugh out loud and point at someone wearing one of those!

I think the apple watch is one of the dumbest things they have come out with.  I just don't get the appeal.  Maybe someone can tell me what makes it so special?  Is it so hard to pull the phone out of your pocket or unclip from your belt?

Kev, I am curious why you say you must have for your job, what makes this a must in your line of work?

Check macrumor.com

Watch has been tested in shower/swimming in pool with mno apparent negative impact.

Apple even suggests to use water (hold under faucet) to clean the digital crown if it gets stuck/slow moving due to dirt (or hair) getting underneath.....
