Are Festool power tools as tough as we claim?

So, this video came up on my YouTube video alerts and I wanted to share it.

This unidentified Festool skeptic apparently saw the video on our website showing some of the torture tests we conduct to ensure our power tools meet the toughest demands. He runs his new T15 cordless drills through a series of torture tests.

Does it survive?

Festool Cordless Drill Myth?

Shane    Awesome Video, I hope most of us don't abuse our Festools like that, but it great to know they can take a licking and keep on ticking  [thumbs up]

Oh boy - now we are going to have people who wash their tools before they polish them. [eek]

So Shane, you searching out all the Taco Bell stores in Ohio for this guy so you can remove him from the warranty program?

We'll have to wait and see what effect the cake mix has on his T15 down the road.  I didn't see a microwave test in this video.  [tongue]

Now I know I can bring the battery powered Carvex into the shower with me to cut some 4x before I shampoo.

I guess the smarter tool won. [smile] [smile] ;D
i would love to see that test done with a time allowed for the stuff to set a bit or soak in a bit. if it was left in it for a minute or so to really let it get in there

Respect to this guy. It's a good video. Now I know I can use my drill in the rain for example without worrying.

That was kind of silly.  Some dust, dirt, water and what not is kind of silly.

Dropping the stuff from ladders, running over a tool with your truck, tossing a router on the ground, that is a good test.

I bet this guy returned the drill after this test...

While I hope that he didn't, if that's what it takes to independently verify our testing is legitimate then so be it. Too many people in the US think our tools are delicate because they are precise. In Europe, based on what I've been told, customers buy our tools because they want a tools that's durable.

I should mention that I have no idea who this person is and they have absolutely no affiliation with Festool. This video was produced completely independently.

Darcy, I'm looking forward to your video of these tests with your tools.  [wink]

Absolutely spot on Shane. Too many tools have a 12 month guarantee and then die at about the 13 to 18 month mark.

Festools 3 year guarantee is the big draw!

I was just going to say that Shane.

I don't understand why people think these tools are dainty and need to be treated with care to work properly.

There are not too many tools I use as hard as my Festools and I have only had one tool render itself in need of repair.

Shane, I would have to have a live feed from the shop if you want to see some accidental misuse of some certain green tools. [big grin]

[scared] [scared] Now that I would pay to see!!! [laughing] [laughing]

Mmm, wonder how that will be received at Festool HQ in Germany

This guy must be nuts, why would you try and break a very expensive Drill. Just because you do not believe the manufacture?

Did he pull the video?  It would not play for me before and now it is not showing up in Shane's post.

Working now... never mind.

Cheers,
Steve

Seems that YouTube is having some intermittent issues. If you're having trouble viewing the video, try again in a few.

I thought it was funny that he was willing to do all that to the drill but seemed to go out of his way to avoid getting the dirt and stuff on his clothes.
