Are there any Festools that you wouldn't want?

Plan on eBaying my Rotex 125 and Rotex 150 next week.  Keeping my Rotex 90.

The tool that i regret to get is the C15.
Just do not like the slower speed when lowering the torque setting. And it has some kind of "soft start"  really feels like the battery is exausted.
However,I do love my old c12.
Also,i don't think i will get another Festool jigsaw.(even if the carvex makes it here)
I really like the dust blower on my old Bosch.

Your drill shouldn't have a soft start.  You might want to call Festool.

I don't think it is but it somewhat feels like it.My old c12 doesn't do it.Never used a drill with that effect.

Slower speeds at lower torque settings is one of the things I love about my C15, makes it ideal for precision driving small screws, mine doesn't feel like soft start compared to any other drill I've used.

Of the Festools I have the one thing I actually dislike is the 1400mm guide rail. It is just too short to be of practical use for the things I normally use. And what's most frustrating is that if it were 1500mm it would be fine.

As it is now you can't use it with the parallel guides to cut down half sheets of plywood, and even without the parallel guides it requires that you plunge the saw to start, and there isn't room for the hose guide and a kickback stop.

I have a pair of rail connectors that I no longer use.  I found them to be too much of a pain.  A long rail is very nice to have.  I've never used the knobs for the clamping elements.  I have but seldom use the rail guide for the Trion jigsaw.  I thought I'd use it on some metal roofing for a straight edge but it didn't really work out.  I didn't like the Trion when first purchased but have come to appreciate and use it frequently.

The boom arm is my latest purchase and it makes a tremendous difference in hose/cord management.  It is much appreciated.

As someone making a living in the Trades I can see a use for nearly all the Festool line.  Having a dedicated tool for a task makes all the difference for Professionals.

Although I'm convinced there are other brands that are just as good or better such as Mafell, Virutex, Betterley Industries, Blum, Hoffman, Mirka, and Lamello to name a few.

Items you won't see me buying anytime soon:

Surfix
Syslite
"T" Line of drills
Parallel Guides
Jigsaws
TS55
And many of the Accessories

The Building materials saw
Shinex
Planex
Ti15
C drills
Rustfix
Big planer
Airtools
Aluminium milling machine
Putty router
Stirrer
Carpet remover
Pricing system

The only Festool item that I have so far been unhappy with and have sold is the Surfix.

I've just bought a CXS which I think is great, but won't be bothering with the other drills. Likewise I have a DTS400 but won't be bothering with the other sanders as I have the (superior) Mirka Ceros.

The ATF 55/MFT 1080 got me severely stuck on the slippery slope.
all the other Festoys are great Xcept for the very frustrating (discussed on many other entries of FOG) FS-KS angle guide.  I have tried everything to make that a repeatably useable tool.  I keep it as a reminder only.
The other tool I have not been happy with is the Parallel Guide set.  For me it is frustration.  I am watching Ron Wen for wen he puts his set of brackets out there.  his idea looks much better, like it can actually be used in a very small, or very large shop space >>> and anywhere.  And the guides will sit on top of the material.  No need for extra inginuity

MFT.  price, performance, stability, ratios.

I am not mobile and see no prospect of being. So lack of stability (it does move around) is not balanced by mobility in my case. The 20mm x 96mm grid is important and my workbench has that built in

Kapex. price, performance, ratio.  [eek]

A wonderful tool but not better enough. As again I am not mobile and my budjet does not go that high for that tool.

Another mistook for me, altho it was not at the time of purchase.
I have both CT 33 and later added CT 22.  i keep the 33 in one place and move the 26 around to other work areas as needed  I will eventually unload the CT 22 and get a Mini or Midi for moving around.

I said I would never buy a Kapex stand because it is too expensive and I could build a really nice work station for less. Well, I went and did it anyway  [big grin]
Yesterday I ordered the MFT/Kapex along with an ETS150/3, midi, 7mx36mm antistatic hose with extra hose connectors so I can make a short hose for the Kapex and midi and have a longer hose left over, and some other accessories. I'm trying to get my hose fixed up to sell and I decided not to spend the time building a work station because I will be building a new shop at my new house. I went with the MFT over the UG because the MFT serves 2 purposes, a Kapex stand and portable work table.

I bought te Kapex stand b/c when it sets between 2 MFTs it sits at the correct height to use the MFT3s as a Infeed outfeed table. The Kapex fences (old design) are designed to sit on the MFT 3s for inffed / out feed fences.

Though I haven't used this set up yet. I want it available to me in case I have a production run. I also am making a router table that will sit inbetween the MFT3s  when the Kapex and Kpaex stand is being used in this config.

I think it will speed up my production tremendously. It will also not take up to much space in the shop.

That was another reason I got it. I also have a Kreg router table that is the same hight as the MFT3 and I will be setting the Kapex between them. I was going to get the UG extensions for the Kapex but took them off the order at the last minute.

See great minds think alike  [big grin]

I didnt know the kreg router table is the same height as the MFT, Good to know. Ill have to look into that. Ill have to check out the dimensions.

Now route in the small kreg clamping plate (get the one with the clamp)  in the corner of the router table so you can use it as a clamping table for the kreg jig too.

I try to get a variety of use out of things as much as I can.

Oh the router table/ clamping table I made also doubles as a shelf that rest on the cross members below the MFT3. I can set things / systainers etc on it then when I need it, set it inbetween the 2 MFTs and drop the router plate in it.

The height of the Kreg router table is adjustable.

Let me guess.  Is it adjustable from the height of the old 800/1080 to the MFT/3

Ha anyone mentioned the Gecko... I would not rush out and buy one!  All other Festool acquisitions have met or exceeded expectations [smile]

Several mentions/comparisons about the jigsaws.  Barrel grip vs. D-handle.
I have a D-handled Milwaukee from my contracting days.  Also have the Festool jigsaw barrel grip.
My problem with the D-handle top grip is that i am short (and shrinking).  the top handle seems clumsy to me as i have to raise my right arm much higher than is comfortable when working on any of my work benches.  It becomes especially high when working on MFT/3.

Why couldn't they make the new Festool Carvex closer in shape to the RO90 (body) ... and just make the one unit - that would've suited me anyway!
