I'm relatively new to the world of wood working and Festool. Attached is my first real project from rough cut boards. I know it's not an impressive room of built-ins, but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. I did all the work myself, with the exception of the surfacing, which was handled by a good friend with a planer.

I learned a lot about wood, routing (first project with my new OF 1400) and general finishing. Still amazed with how cleanly and effortlessly the TS-75 ripped the boards.

I'm already looking forward to next year to apply what I learned from this batch!

Great job Tony!  It's really cool to see a project go from rough cut to completion first hand. You start to realize how much is really involved. Did you use some sort of table widener or were you just really careful on turning the corners for the edge forming?  I always find my balance wanting to lean the router down. Is that project for a boys out troop?  You should be very proud!

Thanks, Bob. I failed to mention that the OF-1400 is in the CMS router table! Boy I learned a lot there for sure. Each board has a super slight bump where I stopped the board running through the cutter as I transitioned from my hands and started using a push stick. Nobody will ever know the bump is there, but I learned how important it is to not stop! Bums me out, but like I said it's practically invisible, but not to me! [mad]

It was also super important to be sure that the sliding table on the CMS was level with the stationary table. Even the super-slightest variation showed up on the corners where the router cuts met. Luckily I had plenty of scrap to get it set just right!

What a fun learning experience!

Very nice! You should be rightly proud.

Really cool and great job! I remember my arrow of light ceremony, wish I had gotten something this neat to commemorate it, Those are some very lucky scouts!

I always loved scouts, I made it all the way to Eagle.  I've always been glad I took the time to go the distance as its such a great accomplishment to carry with me through life.  One of my favorite gifts from my Eagle ceremony was a handmade hiking stick with carvings and leather details given to me by one of my leaders. Your project clearly had the same amount of love put into it and I'm sure will be appreciated for many years.

Best of luck to your cub-turned-boy scouts in their new adventures

John

They are some very lucky scouts! My grandson just went through the ceremony and was given a Boy Scout hand book. Not a fancy award like you made.
