...always better than good day at work.
So in my spare time I'm working on an under lathe storage cabinet. I made the box last weekend so yesterday I had some time to make the drawers. I picked up some BB at Rockler using their new curbside pickup.
I was breaking down the ply with the track saw and using the TS to rip to size and on my last rip on one of the boards found it was too narrow [eek]. So checked all my dimensions and they were fine so just for grins I checked the rough stock and sure enough it was 1/4" off! Since it's a shop cabinet I made the piece from a leftover from another sheet of BB but the grain will be running vertical.
The drawers were to be half blind dovetailed. I've done this a few times before on 1/2" stock with my Leigh RTJ400 jig without much tweaking. Yesterday had heck of a time getting it dialed in. Still struggled with the first drawer and checked and double checked everything. Decided to take a break. Tore down everything and set it up again no adjustment necessary this time. Must have been those gremlins. So was able to make the 5 drawers for the lathe cabinet and two for a vanity I'm working on.
Maybe I should have tried making Domino drawers - maybe next time.
Forgot - when I went to cut dados for the drawer bottoms on the router something wasn't right at the end of the cut. Found out my split fences were out of alignment. When did this happen???
