Bad Festool Dealers?

Drew that stinks. That's probably the best argument for choosing one of the dealers everyone here recommends, even if they aren't close.

Tool Nut and Festool Products has been go to me in the past.

I'm new to the FOG, trying to get 5 post so I can add a link in my post for the video contest.

Hi Lance,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

Sorry about the post count deal. It is an anti spam measure.

So far I've ordered 5 times from Bob and he has always gone above and beyond in every way. I cannot confirm or deny how fast he talks but he is really quick to reply to an email and thankfully we both use the same character set. I've also ordered from Tom at Tool-Home which was equally as good as from Bob. In a pinch I order from Amazon because I'm a prime customer and I get overnight or 2nd day almost free, but I try to send orders to a single owner dealer when possible. Shipping from Bob and Tom has always been quick and Bob's warehouse team seems to love to wrap everything in 2" of bubble wrap and thanks to that I have a 5 year supply and no broken Systainers.

As it happens I live in Lake City Florida and I have visited the Woodcraft store in Jacksonville and Orlando. The store in Jacksonville is good and has good staff and a great selection of all kinds of tools and an entire corner of Festool products. I've purchased several stationary tools from them and a few festool items as well. The Woodcraft store in Orlando is quite the opposite. I've only been inside it once, first impressions..., and it was just dark and gloomy. Their store wasn't nearly as well stocked as the Jax store and the people were not as engaging either. Maybe there is more than one Woodcraft in Orlando but I don't think so.

I went to the WoodCraft store in Bloomington MN yesterday ( in -15 degree weather, BTW ) to see if they had a 20mm router bit. The one person working just pointed me at a cabinet and said "If we have any they'd be over there". I didn't find anything that was even labelled.

The store in general was dark and dingy. All the Festool systainers (well, the few they had) looked like they came over on the Mayflower and hadn't been cleaned since. The had ONE - yes, one - blade for a TS75. Very disappointed with the store, the people, and the whole experience. Festool REALLY should fire them.

On the other hand, I attended a demo day at Acme Tools Plymouth MN early in December. They had practically everything out and on display, as well as having back-up stock for popular items. They had at least one of any accessory I looked for, including blades, clamps, systainers, etc. I can't speak about employee knowledge of Festool - since the Festool rep was there doing the demos and answering questions - but I have usually found them knowledgeable about other brands in the past.

Talk about a night and day difference in experiences!

Drew,

If its any consolation, The Rocklers that was near me wasnt worth a plug nickle

I'm interested in becoming a Festool dealer here in Charleston SC.  I know more about Festool than anyone I have ever met, including those whom I have bought all my Fes from.  I am a carpenter and cabinet builder and have a lot of experience with the tools and know what guys want and more importantly need...  I wrote to corporate several times and they actually called me once and set up an interview with me.  In the long and short of it they said that they would probably try my idea in a larger metropolitan area.  Ohh yeah, my idea was becoming a "Mobile Festool Dealer".  Driving around and delivering consumables, all the while intruducing Festool in a new way.  I have enough of the tools to let people demo my own and advertise the product.  I work with all types of trades and about 75% never heard of Festool.  They sure are impressed though when I don my elaborate Festool set-up.  Working for or with Festool would be my dream job.  If anyone can help me or have any advice it would be great.  Again, thanks in advance...

I would suggest that you contact Festool again.  Perhaps also try to talk to the Regional Sales Manager in your area.

Just want to say I like the idea you have. I have not heard of anyone else doing a mobile Festool store. Good luck!

Very new to the FOG as I just recently purchased my first Festool items (TS55, guide rail assy kit, Holey guide rail, OF-1400 n assy's, CT-36 with boom arm, various clamps n other items) and was pleased to do business with US Tool and Fastener out of Holliston, MA. Very fast shipping and always free.  I ordered when Festool was frozen in around the New Year and the items not in stock were drop shipped directly from Festool.

Like I said, my first purchase but I highly recommend them.  On the other hand, some of the "dealers" selling NEW items on eBay are suspect.  Prices over full retail, crappy remarks to questions, and constant harassment/follow up when corrected.  Kregswarehousellc is the most notorious of all.  Check out his feedback and crappy remarks as well as his Festool items for sale, i.e. Domino DF 500 Q-Plus (Q set) for $999 when they sell everywhere for $900.

I love my new Festool items but somewhat disappointed that Festool allows such Charlatans to sell their products.

Welcome to the FOG.   [smile]

After looking at their website I doubt they are an authorised dealer. Festool should take legal action. A big clue is that they state that warranty claims should be directed to Festool. Any authorised dealer would be happy to assist with warranty claims. They are probably buying stock from an authorised dealer, hence the alleged mark up over retail.   [eek]
