Banned/Restricted Members

How fascinating!

First you post here about being banned.  Then you write up an extensive post on the other forum about being banned, including accusations of my "behind-the-scenes manipulation and deceit," saying "it is absolutely mind boggling how much manipulation was (still is) going on."  You claim to have "much more info on this" (which of course you never share).  You add further accusations that I am "manipulating the statistics" on this forum.

Then you come along and essentially say "Oops, sorry, maybe I was wrong!"

Sounds like an old tactic used by politicians to smear an opponent, then apologize after the damage is already out.

One interesting slip on your part: you claim you were banned, but in your TF post you say "I spent 4 days deciding whether I should leave or not."  Woops!  So, did you decide to leave, or were you banned?

In that same TF thread, it's interesting to note that Bob Swenson and Mirko also play the same game, falsely claiming they were banned from the FOG.  In fact, that entire discussion was nothing more than all the TF guys gathering around and sympathizing with each other about being banned.  At one point, one of you actually calls for a "group hug."

Brice, maybe you need to take a deep breath and a timeout.  At this point, your posts don't look like you are trying to benefit the forum.  They just look like you are pissed off and going to make your point no matter what.  Nothing in life is perfect.  This is just a forum, not life or death.  Approximatetly half this country are Democrats and half Republicans with vastly different beliefs but we all get along for the most part.  I think it is the same here only in a micro version.  Can't we maybe agree to disagree and move on?  
 
Man this place is getting more and more surreal (and creepy) all the time --- I haven't spent too much time on many forums but is this normal?  It can't be, can it?  Wheels within wheels , I can't get a good foot hold on anything ----- this needs to all be fixed before things become too convoluted and unfixable ------ I know I don't know what's going on here or to what extent coarse words have been exchanged but hopefully reasonable minds will prevail.

The bottom line is, it doesn't matter whether the destructive habits are obvious or vague, or whether they come from a new member or someone with a lot of posts.  They are all harmful.

Now that they are fully recognized, let's stop both kinds.

Just an explanatory note: I have lifted the ban on the TF moderators.

I have also created a new category, called "Restricted," for those members who abused the PM system.  "Restricted" members cannot send PMs, view the FOG member list, or delete their posts.  They can continue to use the forum normally in all other ways.

This adds an extra layer of administrative oversight that I wish was not necessary, and it's unfortunate that some members have made this necessary.  But the "Restricted" category seems like a good way of offering a fair compromise that I hope will solve problems. 

I have edited the first post in this discussion to reflect these changes.

Well, I know you've been taking a beating lately in regards to how you've handled these issues, but, this seems to be very fair. Thank you for reconsidering this and coming up with this compromise.

I haven't posted since my last restriction, you claimed at that time I got 34 complaints, ok fair, but then a week later you lifted the restrictions??
and now it back...What gives Man??

Matthew, I never said that I was banned on that other post, I said that I was denied access.
You know I was and the storm I kicked up was in answer to your emails, not PMs, email.
Dear members, the controversy was over the fact that if I couldn't post on the FOG I wanted
my money back. A reasonable request but all it did was cause Matthew to have a hissy fit.
Now it will be fun to see what will happen when I post this. Will it be red lined. Will I be labeled a guest.
Will I be a 2008 contributor. Will I see Pictures.

You must have saved more than that $20.00 by not accidentally cutting up weiners on your sawstop.

You'd be surprised how many weiners I have to buy every week 'cause my unsafe table saw keeps chewing them up.

 
I do not know Bpeters and yes he did post with some swear words.
