Bar glue up

Hi all
We have this bar to build,while ive done several small tops,this one is big to me, the material is expensive and im looking for advice from those with more experience than myself. Its to be 32' long with a 90 degree return 12 ' long .The material is 1 3/4 x 14"x 18' sapele . The bar top will be 24" wide finished.Two pieces are going to be butt jointed ,and then three pieces joined to stagger the seams. In my head ive been building this,and have been thinking to domino the two 18' pieces end to end  first,let that dry and then glue the next three pieces up  the following day. Space is a issue.So the concrete slab will be our work bench.Planned on using 12mm X 3" tenon Thanks for any input

If you have some slender dominos the you could run through it as a "dry run", (sans glue).

I would glue the butt ends on the two 18' as well as the three pieces of 9',18',9'. then once those are dry join the two halves together. I would also probably use the 14mm by 140mm dominos instead of the 12mm especially in the butt joints, thats where you need as much support as you can get. Hope this helps, also share a picture or two when your done with it. Would like to see the finished project.

Don't forget to put something between the concrete slab and the bottom of your wood.  If you don't, there's a good chance that you'll pick up a lot of moisture from the concrete slab that you will definitely not want.  I know, because I did that and it ruined a project.  A good plastic drop cloth will work just fine.

even if you "know" the concrete is dry, you will pick up moisture if placing wood on bare concrete.  Even with a tarp un top of the concrete, I would advize elevating at least an inch off of the floor.

Great work.  I've heard good things about the Roubo monocoat but have never used it.  I think I'll try after looking at this, though.

But be advised monocoat is not a cross linked product therefor moisture will pass thru and for a bar top (if truly a bartop and achohol will be spilled) something like an epoxy or urea thane would be the ticket....I went the epoxy route (ClearCoat) on a Sapele bar and other than the head aches of meathod its bullet proof.....I will admit You lose the feel of the wood it's like a surfboard or shuffleboard now.
