I want to build a new bench for my workshop, but I am looking for some ideas/designs. Something simple, cost effective, with drawers and lots of storage. I plan on using MDF for the top, and probably milled 2x4's and 2x6's for the frame components. Nothing special for me. Just need an improvement from my current bench.

I built a pretty solid bench out of milled 2x4s and added a cabinet with drawers early in my woodworking when I was more comfortable working from a plan.  I have the plans for it if you'd like to take a look.  Shoot me a PM with your email address if you'd like them.

I built a new bench recently using 4x2s which I trued up on the planer/thicknesser. I needed loads of drawer space and used some good quality runners that could take the weight of my systainers. The top is solid Iroko, not what you have planned, but it only cost £40 as it was an offcut from a kitchen fitting company. My vices are from Veritas and cost about £80. Total cost was under £200 (less than $300).

Nice bench!
The "model" needs some work though  [big grin]

I think I found my bench design! Thank you!

EDIT:
The reason I will be using the MDF top is to use this table like an MFT. Also, I like being able to replace my top at a moments notice for maybe $15.
