I know a couple of guys who do something similar with the original bags, and they reuse them at least a few times before throwing away the bags. They reseal the partially open end with dust tape (and staples?).

I think not everyone wants to deal with the emptying part that can be pretty dusty. Better do it outdoors.

Don't remember exactly how much it was, but it was less than $100.

Best thing I have ever done for my Festool gear was sleeving my hose and power cord together. Game changer.

i prefer to just dump the bag myself and not deal with the mess.

however, sleeving the vacuum hoses was definitely the best $30 spent on festool

+1

I know the bags are spendy, but why pay for top quality filtration, then breathe THE WHOLE BAG full of dust by emptying it? I pull that little seal over the hole, say a thank you to the Festool engineers and dump the whole thing in the dumpster.

The best money spent is on the Dust Deputy in conjunction with the iVac auto switch. No more bags changing (at least not until a few more years later), and without opening the vac lid, I can tell if it's time to dump the sawdust. I have one for the Kapex, and one for the drill press/stationary sanders.

I don't see that a problem at all as long as the emptying is done with a mask worn. Even if we can avoid handling the dust extractor bags, what about the dust collector bags and dust deputy cans that we need to deal with periodically?

Bluetooth remote control kit for my CT vacs is my favorite sub-$100 Festool purchase.

Is the sleeve #500670 for $28? Does it fit CT36/std hose that came with it. Thanks

No, we're talking about braided sleeve covering the old plastic hose. It was (is) notorious for snagging on anything it touched. For the last 5 years or so, Festool hoses have had a fabric sleeve over them. For those of us with older hose who are too frugal (cheap) to buy a new hose, this stuff:https://www.cabletiesandmore.com/flexo-pet-braided-sleeving is a reasonable facsimile of a new hose. Added benefit is there's room to thread a power cord in there, too. 1-1/4" diameter, Uptown Green.

This is what Jeff was referring to, the RH side is the standard hose covered with Flexo PET braid and the LH side is the standard hose covered with a Festool zip-on cloth sleeve.

I used the Flexo method for 3-4 years but noticed the hose became quite stiff and just was not as flexible for sanding and getting into tight areas. At which time I abandoned the Flexo PET braid and went to the Festool offering instead on the CT 22 & MIDI. I like this a lot more.
Here's what the Flexo looks like when it's removed from 2 hoses.  [smile]

Im with cheese here but will add it depends on if the hose is suspended from above or not.  I agree the PET cover does make the hose much stiffer and for sanding its better without when suspended from above.  Now if its plugged into a CT and prone to be catching on the edge of a bench etc. It might be better with.  So it depends in my opinion.
