I prefer a Shinwa bevel gauge.  It's built to last and I've had mine for years.
That looks just like my old Stanley I use all of the time

I just got the Shinwa gauge.  Had I known I could buy the original Stanley No. 18 gauge on Ebay I might have done that.  There are many available.

Yea, just a one day thing, its sold out now though.

Woodpeckers makes some wonderful stuff.  But IMO they are beginning to sound pressing in their marketing.

I bought a Shinwa bevel gauge to supplement my trusty old Stanley 18 and was disappointed in how soft the Shinwa blade is. It bends very easily.

Go ahead and get the original.

So, I was a day late...  [crying] Certainly would have made that purchase. I'm currently working on a project where I just had three bevel gauges set for different angles. I have four gauges, but I only like one or two of them. Really would like a smaller sized one that was of a nice quality. And wish that WP would keep those bevel gauges as a stock item.

They also recently had this One Time going for a smaller size pair.

I like their conventionally set bevel gauges so well that I ordered the latest 5" clutch set style.  [smile]  Let's see how that works out.
