Best Hanging Hardware for Floating Shelves

I have a client who wants a floating shelf that will be 1.5" thick and 144" long and about 6-7"" wide.  It will be used as a display shelf, so not carrying heavy weight.  I am trying to determine which method is the best to hang it with.  I have a solid surface to attach it to, so no problem there.  I have found two methods: 1) Blind Shelf Supports that retail on various websites.  I would install enough to support it.  2) A French Cleat system made of metal.  This would be easier to install, but do not know if it will keep it level.

If anyone has had experience, any tips would be helpful in what you have done in the past.

I used these successfully recently (second one down is the one I used).  It was a wider shelf than yours so these would possibly be overkill, but they are stronger than they look.

I've used something like he showed, except I welded my own up. Pretty easy to do. Then routed clearance in the rear of the shelf for the hanger to disappear into. A counter sunk machine screw locks the shelf into place.

I had to mount a 12' long 2" thick 12" wide walnut shelf. I identified exactly where the studs were and being carful to be perpendicular to the wall, drilled two 1/2" holes thru the studs. Transferred the hole location to the shelf, drilled two 1/2" holes and using lengths of 1/2" steel bar fitted the shelf. Had to be persuaded to fit but it won't fall off. My system is not adjustable so the hole placement is critical but it was quite easy and fast. The holes were not at the ends of the shelf but centred about 8' apart.
