Best part of being addicted to the Festool system

I can barely spend time in Homedepot or lowes anymore. When I was younger I used to lust after all the shiny gear in there but I now have to force myself to be in those buildings for more than 5 minutes. The only tools I looked at longingly were a Bosch hammer drill to fit in a systainer, and a portable planer.

Little junky bits and pieces, don't want any of it. I think of saving for all the little parts in a LR32 system.

In this sense, spending more on Festool has been actually saving me a lot of money.

Someday I'll have similarly refined taste for wine and whiskey…

You are lucky, I actually work part time in an equivelant of Lowes/Home Depot. Do not feel guilty selling Makita, but some of the lesser brands yes. And I have to look at them all day Saturday and most Sundays, unless I am in the timber yard.

There is a Festool catalogue under the front counter however.  [big grin]

They are all great tools, i have a lot of other gear that I'm fond of also. I've just found myself getting in and out much quicker. Part of it is a maturity, part of it is the Festool…

I know what you mean. My latest plans are:

Keep my Milwaukee stuff (drills, drivers, and grinders)

Get rid of ALL of my Dewalt.

I have one piece of Ryobi - a little rectangular sander that I've had for years - which is going.

I'm keeping a few Porter Cable routers for now, and also keeping the VS Profile Sander, and the 362VS 4x24 belt sander. Get rid of the rest (SpeedBloc, RO Sander_.

I have an old B&D router that screams like a banshee, and a 3x 21 belt sander. Both are going away.

I think I can predict a few more bits of green goodness not to far from now...

[big grin] I know what you mean! I have already invested a ton in Festool. I purchased the Carvex and accessories first and then it was purchasing the saw & track, extra track, the accessories, MFT 3 and accessories, Rotek 150, 1400 Router, etc. I did sell my Miter saw and WoodPecker router table. Now I am thinking I could use the Festool router table system and potentially a Kapex.

I am just a home hobby person but these tools are made great and I really enjoy them.

I bought a LR32 and of1010 edge band trimming accessories recently… great stuff.

There are definitely gaps in the system though, like thickness planer, jointer, etc. so I am learning to love my old stand bys more. I wish i could stomach the cordless drills but its not working so far.

I get  the same feeling now that you mention it. I can walk by the tool department like there are washing machines in there. I just don't want to know about them. I have been using Carters for my supplies lately, which is thin on tools anyhow.

That's funny too, because Sears was always a dream store to me!! [embarassed]

If the manager finds you concealing that sort of porn under the outer ... [scared] [eek]

It's OK he put it there after a visit from a Festool Rep.

I did get my hopes up however, staff discounts etc., but as he rightly said, small town with five cabinet/kitchen makers, only one using Festool, and he paid a premium to be  Makita Dealer.

Recently however, and when no one was looking, I did show the catalogue to a tradie.  [big grin]
