Best way to get into centrotec

Thinking of getting into centrotec and getting the 576932 set. Seems like it comes with a pretty decent selection of bits along with the brad point bits. I like the fact it’s in a systainer and can grab it and my drills and go just seems like a lot of wasted space. Anyone have any better sets that they use? Would really like to at least have the imperial drill bits. I work by myself mostly so having multiples of every bit isn’t a must at this point. Looking at it also led me down the path of light as well get the cxs while I do it. Any help would be appreciated

Honestly, all my Centrotec stuff was bought piecemeal over time from both Festool and third parties. If you think that the assortment will meet your needs, then the kit is a nice setup, including with the Systainer. At the time I was assembling things, Festool wasn't supporting square drive, either, which is my primary screw type and has been for two decades. So I had to go third party there (Snappy), for example.

I have had good experience with Snappy also, but I still don't really have a good "collection" of Centrotec pieces. Always looking though.

There was a recent thread on Centrotec and some comments were made on its lack of range. While very nice I find buying kits such as mentioned by the OP a waste of money as a lot of it never gets used.

Not sure which country you are in so options may vary... But, I jumped in with a CXS and the 89-piece metric set Part# 576932. I wanted it mainly for cabinets and lightweight around the workshop stuff.

That is kind of the way it goes with most big assortment "sets", like router bits. They usually have a lot of bits to make it seem like you are getting your money's worth, especially with the cheaper sets. Many of them are never used.

I don't think that would be as much of a problem with driver bits though. There just aren't as many variables.

Well after a couple extra brewskis the other night I went ahead and ordered the set and a CXS.  My wife and I are about to break ground on a new house and figured having all the bits in one systainer will be easier to grab while I’m running back and forth between this house and the new one.

Congrats on your order. Bits aside, I absolutely love my little CSX drill/drivers...I now have two...and while my original intention was primarily for in-shop use, they are "little beasts" and get used for anything they are capable of. They are light in weight, easy to maneuver and surprisingly powerful. I only pull out a larger drill/driver when it's absolutely necessary for the task at hand.

I’ve used it a little around the house(swapped out a crib for a twin bed for the kiddo) and really impressed with the smoothness of the trigger. Got a couple cabinet builds coming up I’m excited to try it on. Going to attempt a couple large built ins on the house build so get plenty of use on that.

I think it would be interesting to learn how many power tools/accessories get ordered late at night with a glass of something sitting next to the laptop. I must confess to being an expert on the topic.

I can be drinking water...which is more my custom...and still have this, um...issue.

10/10 not mad at myself it is a very very nice little drill. The bit set I do feel has a bit of wasted space with the plastic trays that hold the bits but it is really nice to have everything in one place easy to grab and get. Will most likely be ordering the sys rails and make me a little cabinet to pop the bit systainer in and get a couple of the sys3 org systainers to keep my screws and stuff in where it’s all in one place.
