Few years back I got interested in wood turning. I even joined a local club and learned to turn bowls and other things. I've come to the conclusion that I should probably sell my woodturning equipment (and maybe buy a smaller benchtop model). I enjoy doing flatwork much more and really haven't done much work except a few pens lately at my big lathe. I have a 3520B and so many accessories I don't even want to look at them to see what I should sell.:)

OK - I'm sure others have done the same with a tools so what is the best way to sell a big lot? Contact woodturning clubs? FB & CL? Would really like to sell as a batch to someone getting into the hobby.

Thanks

I don't know the sort of price range you're after, but for us in Oz I've observed that almost every time someone puts up something as a single lot on the Australian Woodworkers Forum they struggle to sell it, and usually end up breaking it down into separate lots where they tend to have much better success.

The clubs also usually aren't that interested unless it's practically given away, as they don't generally have the funds for job lots of machinery.

But it could be a completely different situation where you are.

Trying to sell a fairly upscale lathe along with a whole package of stuff would probably take an eternity as potential buyers likely already own accessories and are just looking to upgrade machines. As above, you'd probably be able to unload the things that can be shipped much faster through either Fleabay or a woodworking forum.

I would consider joining a wood turning forum. Just as FOG discourages new members from hawking their products, I would imagine that other forums do too. So I would introduce yourself and ask, “What is the best way to sell off my wood turning equipment?” And wait for a member to suggest.

In any event, there are lots of forums to consider. Most do not require any fees.
