Best way to square up MFT?

I’m using my carpenters square but it doesn’t feel that accurate so was considering cutting a 12” piece of 2” thick reference hardwood - assuming my table saw is square!

Also the end rail support feels like it knocks the rail out of square each time I tighten it. Is it just me?

Would of course love Woodpeckers single use mft square - but who can afford that right? What about their 1281 - at least that would have more uses ... anyone tried it?
