Does making a bevel cut with the TS55REQ cut the clear splinter guard on the track so that it will no longer line up exactly for straight cuts? I haven't made a bevel cut yet and don't want to mess up the accuracy of the splinter guard.

In theory, no, a bevel cut should still line up exactly with the edge of the splinter strip. The point at which the blade enters the wood should be the same irrespective of the angle of the saw.

Disclaimer: That was the case with the TS55. The TS55R should be the same, but I haven't ever checked it.

I can't find the thread, but one thing about the 55 (not R) that i read early on was to set the bevel off of the rail.  Not sure if it was fact or fiction, but i do it religiously and have never done anything to my clear strip.

cheers

The saw is designed to have the same cut line regardless of the bevel angle. You will not compromise the accuracy by doing a bevel cut.
