hi all did festool ever make a sliding bevel?
im 90% sure ive seen one before, with a lever to lock the angle rather than a wing nut.
ive done a google search looked on ebay uk etc and cant find anything

This is the only one I've seen, it has a thumbscrew.

the veritas is good but at 45gbp is expensive, i assume its locked when its in the flush position?

the sliding bevel i have atm requires a screwdriver and the thumbscrew to tighten, im looking for a easylocking/one hand bevel
if anyone has any alternitaves thats a bit cheaper than the veritas?

kevin, no i was thinking about the traditional type sliding bevel, i think festool made one for that older chopsaw with the adjustable fences?

The one William linked to is featured on page 73 of the Festool UK printed catalogue and the on-line catalogue, as it is an accessory for the Festool SYM 70E Symmetric mitre saw. It has Order No 491053 and the cost is 19.00 GBP plus VAT. You should be able to order it from any dealer.

Yes. When the lever is folded down flush with the handle, the blade is locked.

There are plenty of sliding bevels out there. I have a Stanley with a wooden stock and thumb lever which is easy to operate one-handed. I wouldn't want one that needed a screwdriver, and the thumb lever is much better in my opinion than a butterfly nut.

...and there are a dozen or so different models in plastic and wood with various nuts, screws and levers from www.tooled-up.com from 7 to 22 GBP.

thanks for the reply forrest i did a search on the festool uk website but i searched sliding bevel so didnt come up with anything.

i will look for a thumb turn style i think if not i will just get the festool, i cant see festool designing something that requires a screwdriver and a wing nut like my crappy faithfull that was 15gbp [eek]

I've got the Festool sliding bevel - I hardly ever use it - it came with the Symmetric Saw.  It is too big to go in my tool box to go on site and is not particularly wonderful. 
My favourite is an all metal Japanese one:
