I really let our Blackstone griddle go!  It was in rough shape from the last time I used it.  I thought I was being careful to oil the griddle after each cook, but evidently I wasn't being that careful.

I started off with 40 grit Granat on the ETS EC 150 and the paper loaded up pretty quick from the burnt on gunk.

The whole restoration took just over 1 hour between the ETS EC 150 and DTS 400 and 3 re-seasoning coats.  I thought about using the RO150, but I thought that might be overkill.

Yep based on the YouTube videos that I watched, it looked like a wire wheel and grinder was the easiest way to refinish a Blackstone.  Unfortunately, I don't own a grinder so I just used what I had available, although that would have been a good excuse to buy a grinder...

I've had the same issues with a soap stone pizza stone and a cast iron grill pan. Two different materials so I use 2 different methods.

Soap stone is relatively soft so I scrape 90% of all the gunk off with a simple scraper. Then I'll use 180 grit on a ETSC or ETS EC sander. Even though most of the gunk is already scraped off, I still go through 4-5 discs because they plug up so rapidly.

For the cast iron, I again scrape the pan first with a 5-in-1 tool and then use wire wheel brushes on a RA grinder, that works really well for cleaning the bottom ridges on the grill pan where all the debris and oil seems to collect.

I don't think it would fit in our double wall oven because the oven rack brackets encroach about 1.5" on either side of the oven.  I also imagine it might get pretty smokey or put off a strong smell being baked in there.
